Ever since this government came to power it has survived for it dishes out
people’s money irresponsibly. We have fought nothing than corruption in
this government, for men like Bassajja Balaba get millions and un
challenged, the debate right now on Muhwezi and Mukula is about money, GAVI
fund is about money. But when Museveni uses his very same authority and
dumps money to Ssabassajja, Israel Kintu takes the no speak English clause.
I repeat myself again and again. There is no reason the Ugandans in TZ
managed to throw Iddi Amin out of power than the fact that they separated
themselves from his government. There was a very clear line between Iddi
Amin and those in TZ. And yet there was so much money oozing in Uganda at a
time, there was so much money is Kase trade as there was money into the
Libyan bank. You did not see Oyite Ojoke lining up for the Asian properties
let alone his relatives, and yet they would have loved to get their hands on
it. The abandoned MafutaMingi totally. Museveni has been in power this long
for all Ugandans are eating, yesterday it was The Gavi fund and today it is
the Ssabassajja’s time to eat. And we criticize one but not the other. Now
tell me how you can try to throw Museveni out of power and Ssabassajja does
not fail you.

And that is the agony of that lost country, it is greed.

The government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Buganda Kingdom

By Darious Magara

The Government will next week disburse sh2b to Buganda Kingdom to fund the
reconstruction of the Kasubi tombs that were gutted by fire on March 16,
2010.

The Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu,
revealed this after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with
Buganda Kingdom at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Kampala.

“We delayed while harmonising issues between the Government, Buganda Kingdom
and UNESCO in order to kick start the reconstruction of the tombs” Kamuntu
added on Friday.

He said it was a big task to reconcile issues of reconstructing the tombs
taking into consideration the intangible values of the kingdom, those of
UNESCO and the Government.

Eng. JB Walusimbi, the prime minister of Buganda, signed on behalf of
Buganda, while Ambassador Patrick Mugoya signed on behalf of the Central
Government.

Kamuntu and the Secretary General of UNESCO, Augustine Okurut, Buganda and
government officials were present to witness the signing ceremony.

Walusimbi said the reconstruction process would cost between sh5b to sh6b,
adding that they were under pressure from the public who thought that
reconstructing the tombs was taking too long. He said the tombs would be
modernised without losing the original architecture
