Ugandans

But when you look at many of these arguments of Buganda and we love our
culture and we must get Federalism and this and that, yet you see how we
have failed to work out the very structures to bring those aspirations to
fruition, you start to realize the danger of Buganda its self. Just this
morning, I posted a piece that was ignored of why we have failed to put a
political structure in Buganda, for we are raising the Federalism issue but
there is no Federalism what so ever that functions without a political
structure, It simply does not exist. Then you realize that actually Buganda
is like The Natives we have in these countries. They love their culture,
they put it up and most before anything, but as Baganda , Natives actually
failed to build a structure to move themselves from backwardness.

Millions and millions of dollars have been pumped into them but they drink
the most they do drugs the most but they only know one thing, they own the
land. After a very pushing and very hard of the immigrants in this country
we have reached a point of handing them a self-government and still they
have failed. But when we build a high way they move very fast to put stones
on them for the roads were built on their land and their culture. When a
power line is going to pass they stand in middle of the construction and
delay its progress for our grand fathers were buried at this site. Can they
build a road? No. Can they get the education to build one? No. But they talk
a whole lot and they love their culture there is no question about that. And
that is the very structure we have in Uganda, tell a Muganda that you need
to structure out a political structure to run the region, he runs away but
as he is running he testify his support to the Kingdom. Let us get organized
and we build the region, nope he runs away but on his running he testify to
the sovereignty of the Kingdom and he gets out of the way. Since the
reinstallation of this kingdom, we have even failed to build a palace for
it, but we adore the Kingdom very much and we want Buganda to be federated.
With whom? That is not answered. It is this Native reasoning that caused
Baganda to be led by the very same Rwandese, a people they so disrespected,
and the worst is yet to follow for Buganda if it does not change and very
fast. We are heading the Natives land and very fast.

Oba,

You havent picked the drift here yet.

>From where I am sitting Henry Mirima has no authority to launch this suit.

He cannot show any connection to the alleged victims of the attrocities.

Mr Henry Mirima and the nine others probably thought they could get some
easy money from the British taxpayer. From Henry Mirima's statement it is
obvious that if by some miracle they were successful in getting money from
the British Govt they had no intention of sharing this money Bunyoro. The
suit is in the names of Henry Mirima and nine others.

According Henry Mirima's statement in this article this suit has nothing to
do with the Bunyoro kingdom.

This is what M7 calls okulembeka.

Richard Mukasa,

I will impress upon George Okello as the layer representing Bunyoro Kingdom
in this lawsuit to hold on a little so the idea is explored and if possible
expanded because the atrocities visited on the communities in Uganda then
were not only on the Banyroro. There was also the Lamogi Rebellion of 1911
to 1912 which saw serious devastation of the people in that region. So if
George Okello is going to head a lawsuit against the colonial regime,
Britain, the atrocities visited on the people in that region from 1911 to
1912 cannot be left behind.

What I am wondering about however is whether the victims in this region have
been putting together their case. So, George Okello should see if he can
reach out to these folks so that the atrocities are stringed together, in
case they have put together their case.

What say you readers? George Okello?

This is just my opinion.

The funny thing is that right now, Mirima's group is saying that Bunyoro
was/is not part of the suit. Therefore, the Queen, the courts of law and
the Uganda government must only deal with the people that sued Buganda/
Uganda/ EC and the Queen and not Bunyoro Kingdom officials.

Now, where does this leave the role of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom in this case?

Where did Mirima get the Authority to represent the victims of genocide?

Was H F Mirima a victim? I guess not because Mirima's father was a
representantive in Buganda Lukiiko. Mirima's grand father and grand mother
did not die in the war. How can he be a victim? Yes, he is a Munyoro but is
he a victim of this genicide?

Mirima is claiming that he needs to be compensated because of the two
million Banyoros that died. But what is his association to these particular
individuals?.

Then comes the numbers. How did Mirima come to the conclussion that it was
two milion people that died?

Mr Henry Mirima,

Is this case being lodged by Henry Mirima and nine others or is it being
lodged by the Bunyoro kingdom?

Who is Mr George Okello suposed to be representing here?

Is it Henry Mirima and 9 others or is it the Bunyoro kingdom?

I am a little confused here so Mr Henry Mirima and George Okello could you
please explain the different parties to this case.

Story (1 Files <http://ugandaradionetwork.com/a/story.php?s=31314#files> )

The Banyoro have vowed to continue their case against the British and the
Ugandan government over atrocities committed against Bunyoro in the reign of
Omukama Kabalega.

Ford Mirima, the Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom Press secretary, says the law suit
will remain despite promises by President Yoweri Museveni that he was in
talks with the British government to pay compensation to Bunyoro.

Mirima says the Banyoro have always been promised over this compensation in
vain.

According to Mirima Britain had promised to begin payment in 2007 as the
Queen of England was in Uganda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government
meeting, but this never materialized.

He says president Museveni too has always promised that compensation will be
paid in vain. Mirima who is one of the ten litigants in the case says there
is no way they can withdraw the case without their demanded compensation
being paid.

A group of ten Banyoro from Kibaale district, among them Henry Ford Mirima
sued the Uganda and British governments, the Kabaka of Buganda, the
electoral commission, the Uganda land commission and the 3636 absentee land
lords in Buyaga and Bugangaizi.

The civil suit in the High court of Uganda Kampala was registered as 595 of
2004-10-06.

The litigants accuse the defendants of having varying responsibilities in
the colonial injustices done against Bunyoro which saw over 2 million
Banyoro killed, property and animals worth over 500 million shillings
destroyed and Bunyoro's land lost to Buganda.

The litigants are demanding compensation of UK500 trillion pounds and an
apology to Bunyoro over atrocities committed by the British colonial forces
during the colonial era.

Mirima's press statement followed last evening's statement by the
Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom prime minister; Yabezi Kiiza that Bunyoro could
withdraw the case against the British and the Ugandan government once
compensation is paid.

The prime minister said kingdom officials had met the president during his
campaign trail in the region recently and he promised that payment for
Bunyoro's compensation by Britain would start soon. But Mirima says although
the kingdom is among those to benefit from the reparations, they are not
part of the civil suit.

He insists the case was logged by individual Banyoro who can only withdraw
the case when the money they demand is paid.
