Why are we getting reports that all major competitions are running today at
empty seats? Have the British refused to attend these games or we failed to
realize that the economy is hurting and we yanked the prices way up than the
people can afford, or they have abandoned the city to the gun wielding
safety Gurus? Why are our kids playing to empty seats Pat? Here

Prof,
I'm happy that you enjoyed it last night. After all, it was an opening
ceremony for our visitors as well as British people. It has cost billions of
pounds to transform East London, I'm glad you approve. The cynic in me
wonders where the money came from, considering we are broke! It was
earmarked seven years ago of course for 2012.
If you love what we do over here Prof, couldn't you get a position in
Britain? Maybe you and the family are used to the US and of course now may
not be the right time.
Have a good week end.
Pat.

a cosmopolitan all-inclusive city... the best city in the world by far.
Tolerant and welcoming all cultures. The opening ceremonies mirrored, not
the United Kingdom, but London; my home away from home. The Olympic stadium
sits in a former derelict part of London, East London; where my oldest child
was born way back in 1984. The Olympics have uplifted my East London. I was
transfixed, watching the opening ceremonies; reminiscing about those values
I grew up with that I no longer have here in the US: cricket, rugby, the
commonwealth.
