Further to this very sad issue, we are being informed as late as this
evening, that Nighisti Semret who moved to Canada from Eritrea and got
fatally stabbed on Tuesday morning has a mother a brother and children, and
it has now been established that they are in Uganda. So as by this evening,
Haile Kifle of The Eritrean Community Center of Metro Toronto is saying that
the organization is planning to accept monetary donations at St Michaels
Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church. It is very important to stress that what
will happen to the money raised will entirely depend on what the Toronto
Police and Canadian government decide to do to the body. If Nighisti Semeret
is going to be buried in Canada, the donations will be sent to her family in
Uganda, however if the Canadian government and Police decide to send her
body to the family in Uganda, the donations will be used to send her body to
Uganda and all remaining funds will be sent to her family in Uganda to take
care of anything else. We have also been informed that a trust fund called
Nighisti Semret memorial fund has also been set up in The Royal Bank of
Canada. Donations can be made to account number 059521003425
A vigil has been held every day including tonight on the street where she
was murdered and her killer is not yet arrested.

A woman I am posting a photograph below, has been an immigrant in this city
for at best of knowledge two years. She has been working as a supervisor of
Delta Chelsea Hotel in down town Toronto, and she has always done only night
shift. Reports say that this woman was alone and had no family in the
country that is known. As she was walking home on the morning of Tuesday
23/10/12. 55 year old Nighisti Semret at 7 am was followed by an unknown man
and stabbed violently to her death. The reason I am posting this death
specifically is the missing pieces on her family. Police knows that she is
from Eretria but has no relative in the city. Many times the details of a
deceased are not released till when Police has informed the next of kin, but
in this case the details have been released for Police has very limited
information about her. This afternoon, we are starting to get information
that actually this woman has relatives in Uganda. It is very possible that
this woman immigrated from Uganda or she lived in Uganda at a certain point.
So this is all over the God damn place. I am posting the photograph of
Nighisti Semret, take a good look may be something will tick your mind about
her. If you are in Toronto, we are holding a vigil at the street where she
was stabbed in three hours.
Again as I stated it is very sad news.
