*Dear Brother Edward Mulindwa, * * Thank you for this gem of a writing, to Hon Norbert Mao. *
*He, and all our politicians, should print a hard copy and study it diligently.* ** *The President, Yoweri Museveni, is always waxing about "Kyeyo", "Kyeyo"........* *And So, we come here, spend donkey years in School to leave no branch of Maths un-examined, spend sleepless nights drinking coffee in smoky cafes to figure out the final "Kyeyo" master changer of a Mathematics Curriculum for our country.* *We find a blue-print of a Curriculum worth billions of dollars; crafted under the most able Ontario Education Minister, Mr Daniel Johnson.* * ( Mr Mulindwa, you remember **David Johnson. i.e. * ***In 1997, Johnson became Ontario's Minister of Education<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minister_of_Education_%28Ontario%29>. and a senior cabinet minister<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_minister><http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Harris> .* *Johnson has* *a B.SC and a Master's<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Science>degree in Mathematics * *from the University of Waterloo<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Waterloo>. He also worked with Imperial Oil <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Oil>from 1968 to 1982. )* *And what happens to the Curriculum we sent home? * *Museveni gets a constipation.* *His excitement is only about Cash-dollars, now, now. * *If it is shiny stuff he likes. But if it is extending Newton Laws a small bit to Louis Lagrange so that even his soldiers can make, modify, and deploy drones to defend the country or for minerals prospecting? * *He either is not interested or he has had no permission. * *Him and Sam Kuteesa have committed the greatest crime, ever, against our country; by **selling away our sovereignty. * *They now have to ask for permission from Mzungu t**o implement any Curriculum Change. But Foreign interest only want us as IT consumers, not Computer Scientists. * *So Museveni is ordered to fire the best Education Minister.* *Now this Museveni is offering High School Diplomas for "kubajja three-legged Karamoja" stools. * *M7 has allowed Mzungu to dictate this nonsense in Crested Towers. * * And without National Sovereignty nobody out there, Besigye, Mao, Muntu, Musumba etc... etc... should lie to us that they would receive different orders !!* ** *Mitayo Potosi.* *=========================..* I am Norbert Mao, I am reading your writings and pounding my head on the wall at the very same time. Seriously is Uganda’s problem today creating a pension reform? Seriously is that what Uganda needs today? To what effect? And I know when you travel in other countries you see these systems and how they work and how useful they are, but as you try to copy those systems you fail to release that there is a ground work that was done for many many years before they reached to pension reform. You are neglecting that ground work and you are going up to pension reform. I have been reading about the health insurance network Rwanda has done and it is creating more victims than saving Rwandese. And why? Because someone saw Canadians with a health insurance plan and that is a good system and we need it in Rwanda. Did Canada start with medical health insurance plan? The answer is no it started with creating some very basic needs being solved. Africans must stop to copy things for those things you copy from other countries you simply cannot maintain them. And I continue that if I was in a government in Uganda and only created an accessible medical system, a system where a patient can go and see a doctor but get medication, you can save more lives than going after these concocted schemes that you do not even have the structures to run. A right to clean water can save more lives and is a more achievable goal than this scheme. If for example you stop to make Kampala the industrial area, send factories into different cities and regions, you will have the population follow those factories. Imagine if Mukwano industries was built in Gulu, which they could do for Gulu has power supply, all Mukwano employees would move out of Kampala, they would live better lives in better housing than packing themselves into Kampala mizigo, and their life expectance would improve. But the people remaining in Kampala would have a more space to live in. This serves every one right. These honestly are achievable goals than sitting and drumming for pension reform, for who exactly in the 2013 screwed up Uganda? A pregnant woman threw herself off a Mulago floor, and you as opposition is failing to make that a standing block to make child birth accessible for you re busy working on pension reform? What is hurting Uganda the most today? Is it people failing to get pension or it is women that die when giving birth? So when you look at the two problems given the resources you have and the population you have which solution is accessible? Life is about setting priorities, in Sweden when parents get a baby the grandparents qualify for a paid leave of absence to be with their grandchild. Canada developed as it is, when you puke a baby we give you I think 6 months and you are done. Even the father does not qualify for one. Why? Because life is about setting priorities and today handing both parents a leave of absence is not a priority to Canadians, yet we would love to have one. We simply cannot manage it today. I just get so tired with Africans copying everything they see in very country and they jump on it. Because you have seen a revolving restaurant in Toronto you go to Ugandan you build it. Shouldn’t you start by getting a reliable power supply? Why is common sense failing to be common in Africans? What are your priorities Norbert Mao? EM On the 40th
