Before you carry this discussion after school, I need to hold a short
discussion with you on this communal crap bump. Please do not see these
Ugandans and have mercies to help them, let them please crap publicly as
they are so doing here. I will add as well that we need to stop all
assistances being pumped in Uganda on all community developments all
hospital supplies and all AID that we pump into this country. Many of us
have not only stopped to send things and money to Uganda but we preach to
organizations churches and individuals to stop doing so for a very good
reason, those assistances never reach the population.

As you very well know I happen to be amongst the very first people to send
AID to Uganda organizations, but Uganda has got so much AID that has failed
to show. Sectors like hospitals like schools like churches should be doing
massively better than they are today but hospitals like Mulago still have
two beds in maternity ward for women to have babies. Where do all these
things end up? They end up sold on open market and end up in private homes
than hospitals. It is very common in Uganda to find for example edible oil
being sold in local markets when it is clearly labeled AID to Uganda not for
sale. Then you start to wonder who is selling them to the local vendors, it
is the recipients and both Ugandans and foreigners. Sending AID to third
world is very blessing act and yes we have a whole lot that we can send out
there but as long as it does not reach in countries it is supposed to go and
the people use it we end up breaking our backs for the few to make money. I
am going to give you two countries that I have worked with for a long time
to make my dear point.

When you look at a country like Jamaica, it runs mostly on AID, but all AID
sent to Jamaica arrives to the hospitals clinics schools and institutions.
The Jamaican government actually imports very few things to use in the
country for many of their institutions have been twinned with institutions
we have here and they deal with each other directly, for example it would be
a great fun to twin Mulago hospital with the UHN {University Health Network}
in Toronto. UHN includes all down town core Toronto hospitals so you have St
Michael, Toronto General, Toronto East, Toronto West, Hospital for sick
kids, Mt Sinai and the rest, all of these massive hospitals have a well AID
organization that sends out trailers of unused properties and medications,
if you twin that organization to Mulago hospital you never need to send
anything to Mulago for they work together. And that is exactly what
Jamaicans have done here. They twin their hospitals schools and institutions
then move on. But everything you send to Jamaica you will fly to that little
last village clinic and with no notice, and still find that stool you sent
them present. They are very accountable to the last man. And the Jamaicans
here will directly follow up on what is sent and what has been changed and
they are accountable. Just the organization I work with here we have been
able to send 10 containers of useful staff to Jamaica only this year. Let me
state too that as much as Nigeria is a corrupt country, they never sell AID,
all donations sent to institutions in Nigeria actually arrives to the
people.

A second country I want to give you is Haiti. As you know, Haiti is very
close to Canada especially to The province of Quebec. Haiti has a very
educating experience. On 12th January 2010 Haiti was struck with a massive
earthquake that killed 320,000 people and displacing 1.5 million people.
Because Quebec was so close to Haiti, and because the then Governor general
of Canada, Michaela Jean, was an immigrant from Haiti, the entire country of
Canada lined up to send AID to Haiti. As the whole world was sending money
and rebuilding equipment Canada became the center of AID flow to the country
for the Governor General of Canada was center and forward into it. UN sat a
special session for countries to donate money to Haiti and a whopping 4.6
Billion dollars was raised by The UN alone. Air crafts and air crafts
started to go into Haiti to rebuild and to remove people from the reception
centers to homes. They were so many air crafts that they were lined up in
Toronto for they could not get space to land. The American red cross only
sent in 500 million dollars. The building equipment only sent by US and
Canada was enough to build this country back to its feet without even what
came in from Europe and other good countries.

Barigye an earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010, we still have a million
people in Haiti today homeless. Do you know why? Because they get the money
and equipment sent in and they the Haitians themselves smuggle it to The
Dominican Republic, a developed country. I know Canadians whose lives were
threatened for they flew in and tried to stop the smuggling of Canadian
donation, and they were almost killed by the very Haitians that were
soliciting the equipment’s from here. Because Haiti is not that far from
here it was easy to send large equipment’s, tractors caterpillars and so on,
yet all end up sold in Dominican republic that the Dominicans do not import
things any more for they have a good supply from Haiti. Haitians allow their
own people to die so that they make a killing using the AID they get.
Countries like Philippine, Mexico, Venezuela and as far as Nicaragua all
survive on AID from these countries. To those in Greater Authority of
Toronto remember the old trolley buses we had in Toronto transit Commission
that were running on electricity, do you remember the TTC trains that were
running on Young line which were red? All these were sent to Central America
for the systems of TTC were upgraded. So we donate from needles to train
coaches to you name it. School buses in this city run only for six months
and get replaced, where do you think they end up? Donated. We have donors of
commodities as we have donors from aircrafts , companies like Air Canada and
American airlines donate space to fly urgent needed materials, shipping
lines donate space to send these things, so collection and shipping is not
an issue, the issue is how do they arrive to the local Dokolo dispensary,
for they simply don’t. Barigye York university collected a trailer of books
to Makerere University and it was shipped through the Uganda embassy in
Ottawa, those books were sold in Tanzania as soon as they arrived to the
port of Der. If a full embassy sells Uganda donations, why bother sir?

In summing up, Uganda is the true classic example of Haiti. What arrives is
what get sold. And as you read this posting, honestly it must bother you why
in all NGOs that been established in Uganda, in all donations that have been
raised for Uganda from since this government came to power, why a Uganda
woman would even fail to get a bed to puke a baby from. Do you know why she
fails to get that bed? Because the beds and mattresses and bed sheets we
send them end up sold to Kenya to Rwanda to Tanzania to Central African
republic for the few Ugandans to feed their real estate boom in the country.
That is why you see that the real estate boom in Uganda is not matching the
country’s economy. It is money from sold AID from borrowed Money to build
the national debt and from corruption of Uganda. And I opine that if the
population of Uganda does not see a need to utilize these things in their
midst, let them die in empty hospitals. We will continue to work with
countries that are willing to allow the sent commodities to reach the
population and in those countries Uganda is simply excluded sir. And to you
a Ugandan reading this writing, please do not send me a private Email for
you have a very reliable reverend in Dokolo that is accountable and you have
worked with him for a very long time, for all of you including yours truly
are simply smart ass.

Let Ugandans continue to use the communal crapper sir.

Gwokto,

Have you shown this to Faruk Kirunda or Robert Atuhairwe, the two of who
claim we are fast approaching first class standards. But it is an
improvement though. It looks far better and cleaner than the toilets in
Jinja Hospital. It is also environmentally friendly. My only worry is if
Otaffirre chances to go to Fort Portal, some one would have to think quickly
to stop him from attempting to squat on this open air toilet because he will
crush straight inside and it will require a scaffolding crane crane to pull
him out.
