Charles Pateli Mayega
The day when the Mayor of Torontos power were withdrawn, the vote took
place at about 2pm and the locks on the floor were changed by 4.30pm the
very same day. The locks were changed to make it impossible for Mayor Rob
Ford to access some floors on the floor unless he is allowed by the deputy
mayor. So stop bleating about the speed Lukwago was removed from office for
that is how municipal politics runs all over the place.
But why did this end up being a Buganda business, do you complain whenever a
change in made in municipal center? Just asking !!!!

KAMPALA- Buganda Kingdom yesterday added its voice to the chorus of
condemnation of the controversial impeachment of city Lord Mayor Erias
Lukwago.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga said the rush to deny Mr Lukwago access to
his office creates speculation that there was a pre-planned move to oust
him.
While presiding over the fundraising ceremony towards the reconstruction of
Kasubi tombs at Bulange, Mengo yesterday, Mr Mayiga also said the brutality
meted on Mr Lukwagos lawyer Abdullah Kiwanuka by men in police uniform was
uncalled for.
The way things have unfolded at KCCA in the last couple of days makes one
think that those who dont want Lukwago in office made their plans long ago
and convening a meeting was simply a cover up. If a court order is issued,
it should be challenged through courts of law but not violence, Mr Mayiga
said.
He urged Mr Lukwagos critics to respect the judicial process, warning that
using force will only cause more confusion in the city. We need a calm
environment within the city and we believe the rule of law should prevail
for businesses to prosper, Mr Mayiga said
Lukwago office sealed off
Meanwhile, the mayors parlour, which houses Mr Lukwagos office remained a
no-go area yesterday with police personnel manning the main entrance. The
parking lot served for the lord mayor was by yesterday being used by a city
directors car.
Mr Lukwagos support staff have also kept away since Monday.
His driver Ssali Kibedi said yesterday that they could not risk going to
office when the pro-Musisi [group] is bent on finishing us.
However, Kibedi said they will resurface today when court pronounces itself
on the matter. The Lord Mayors office employs seven staff, including his
personal secretary, Ms Sarah Kanyike, Mr Deo Mbabazi (personal assistant),
two police escorts, an office attendant and two drivers.
Court is today expected to give a ruling on Lukwagos application
challenging his impeachment.

This is a quote:
"Even if Joseph Kony was killed, that would not necessarily be the end of
the war in northern Uganda because Kony is no more than a spiritual
leader of the LRA. This quick fix, arm-chair solution seemed to be from the
Kampala-based opinion leaders who only know the war through newspapers".
" Until the legitimate grievances and the marginalization of northern
Ugandas communities are addressed, LRA fighters remain a possible vehicle
for the expression of northerners frustrations".
"Kony may never sign a peace agreement. Whether or not he signs, however, is
less relevant to avoiding new conflict in northern Uganda than ending
marginalization policies and fulfilling promises by the Ugandan government."
