This is a problem in sports we need to find a solution to and vey urgently.
When players and good players play in local clubs, what takes presidency, is
it their clubs or the national teams? We have just finished a hockey
tournament in Sweden this Saturday where Canada did very terribly to not
even get a bronze. Now there are many factors why we did that bad, but a
major one in them is that many clubs refused our star players to head into
the competition, and Hockey is such a terrible game for it is mainly
controlled by NHL which does not give a hoot about Canada the state. Most of
the hockey stars in NHL are Canadians for we go after them in Russia in
Europe and sponsor them as Canadian immigrants. Look at all teams playing in
United States, by far the best players they have are on Canadian passport.
Now when we flip to call them back and go to Sweden to play for Canada, NHL
says no. Many of our team players did not go to Sweden therefore we had to
be beaten that badly. And as soon as they come back we have now started to
struggle on how to build a team to represent us into The Olympics in Japan,
we have the players and we can get/drive the gold home, but the clubs are
not allowing our players to come and fly into Japan.

How do we pass this problem?

Subject: [camnetwork] The Guardian: 2014 CHAN - Eagles To Depart Without
Keshi

----------------

SUPER Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi is expected to stay behind as the
players and other officials leave Nigeria Tuesday for the 2014 African
Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
It was learnt Monday in Abuja that Keshi would stay behind to be part of
Africa Football of the Year Award billed to hold in Lagos on Thursday, where
he was nominated as one of the best coaches of the 2013.

Meanwhile, some of the players, who spoke to The Guardian on the team’s
readiness for the CHAN stated that they understand the position of the
federation as regards their non-payment of camp allowances.

The players, who pleaded anonymity said that they have continued to bear the
situation since the team returned from the friendly match against Gokana
United FC in Port Harcourt, stressing that it was the last time they
received allowance from the NFF.

Also confirming the non-payment of camp allowances, a member of the team’s
officials noted that the players and officials have decided to keep the
situation behind them and move ahead with the task of doing Nigeria proud in
South Africa.

He, however, revealed that the players complained bitterly when the they
were left with nothing in the form of allowance or bonus after its 2-2 draw
with league champions, Kano Pillars, noting that it took the intervention of
the coaches to assure them of the efforts of the NFF to meet up with their
entitlements in camp.

“It has not been easy for the players and officials preparing for the CHAN.
You can’t believe that since we started camping, we have not gotten a kobo
as camping allowances. Financial crunch is biting hard in the camp and I
tell you that the players and officials were no longer comfortable with the
situation.

“Many of us have families at home to take care of. They sacrificed the
festive period because of national duty but whatever they enjoyed here meant
nothing to them because they could not send money to their families back
home. It is not really the best of time for them. But we have resolved that
we should understand the situation at the NFF and carry on with our
assignment. We know that they will pay us, so we do not want that to affect
our preparation for CHAN.

“We have to bear with the Federation and remain focused because we have
resolved that it will not affect our participation in the tournament or even
our departure today because they have promised us,” the source said.
