The December job numbers have been released. According to Statistics Canada,
Canadian unemployment rate rose to 7.2 per cent in December as compared to
6.0 per cent in November. We lost 46,000 jobs in a month. In comparison to
United States, the labor department is reporting that the un employment rate
fell to 6.7 percent in December as compared to 7 percent in November. The
labor department states that this was because more Americans simply gave up
looking of jobs. In critical numbers, the entire United States added 74,000
jobs in December. This is the fewest jobs United States has created in three
years. For some unknown reason the labor department has not indicated how
many jobs were created/lost in November for us to make a comparison. The job
numbers were below expectations for both country's economies.
That is the information coming out as you are waking up.
