EM,
If it is true that Dr. Bata stole the medicine and took it to the NRA, then he
did the right thing. Are you losing memory, or simply don't know what the
situation in Uganda was?
The medicine was taken to those who put their lives on line to liberate Uganda
from a situation of confusion and at which point the rule of Law was
nonexistent. That war had to be fought and the situation in Uganda had to be
clarified. At the time, Uganda had a divided army and the politicians who had
formed the UNLF had done so, simply to come to power and nothing else seemed to
matter. The UPC was weak and only seemed to hang on by relying on the army,
which also was unfortunately divided along tribal / ethnic lines.
The NRA/M was indeed 'a national government in the making', as you put it,
questioning that fact. The split of the part of the NRA by those who wished to
return to Rwanda left a significant gap in the army and other governmental
institutions. However, the NRM was a peoples' movement for the liberation of
Uganda and still is after turning the Movement into a political party.
Let us not lose our memory of the positive by some disappointments here and
there. Do we as a people take time to think that perhaps it is us, the, people
of Uganda who have disabled our government to move forward as we would have
wished. Threats of war agaist the government, or some disorderly conduct that
involves confrontation with the police? Then, I hear some people asking why the
government spends a lot of money on Defence and Security! Can't we look at our
own actions and realise that we caused whatever action the UG government took?
We all have to realise our mistakes and know that if we altered our attitude
towards the authorities and towards one another, the situation will change for
the better. No more threats, but dialogue and agree to disagree in the spirit
of 'Democracy'.
Don't lose memory of yestered, work wisely today for a better tomorrow. Wishing
only the best for our country, The Republic of Uganda.
BJ.
Rubin.

When a war starts in Luwero
district and Doctor Bata breaks into a medicine store in Nakaseke hospital,
steals that medicine and take it to NRA, I conclude that the incoming
government is going to turn the hospitals into this fashion, and at that
particular moment I stop to support the war. That is what makes me a critical
thinker for I can make that limp of a decision based on that simple fact and
you cannot. If NRA/M was a nationalist government in the making, Dr Bata
should have been arrested by NRA and handed over to Kampala with the medicine
returned into Nakaseke hospital. For think about it, the medication was
stolen from Nakaseke what did NRM expect the people to use? You see that is a
precursor to tell you that they do not care about Mwananchi. Was Obote being
treated from Nakaseke hospital? Heck no. So they took the medication to
really hurt the people of Nakaseke area people that Obote cared for. When you
stand up and define Obote as a dictator that must be replaced by a Dog, well
guess what? That is how a Dog runs the country.
Good luck as you
die!
