We are being informed that an emergency cabinet meeting that has sat in
Ottawa today is closing very shortly, and it is making the following
statements, Canada is recalling its ambassador from Moscow immediately, and
Canada is pulling out of the G8 process being chaired by Russia. In a
statement to come out very shortly the prime minister will strongly condemn
Russias military intervention in Ukraine and urge President Vladimir Putin
to withdraw his troops. We are still waiting for a public communiqué but
that is the geist coming out as far as we can assess.
This is a developing story right now.
