Sources in the office of the Archbishop of Kampala are telling us that Dr
Cyprian Kizito Lwanga in his preparation for the Jubilee celebration of
canonizing the Uganda martyrs on 18th Oct 2014, he had made several
invitations. Among the invited guests was his Holiness The Pope Francis. We
have got a report that The Pontiff has turned down the invitation from the
Archbishop and he will not be able to travel to Uganda due to prior
arrangements made. With these developments, the church has decided to also
postpone the national celebrations of 18th October. It is not clear if the
Archbishop has made this postponement expecting another shot at the Pontiff
showing up. This postponement does not include the annual June 3rd a day
both Uganda Catholics and Anglicans use, as a martyrs day to honor the
converts that were murdered in Namugongo by Kabaka Mwanga the second.
Because we are not Catholics one would expect an official communiqué from
those informed to clarify this developing matter better.
Enjoy The Sunday and if you are in Canada, Happy St Francis day. {Dont
