What is strange is that people actually still believe that the politics of
threats work. Quebec was doing its thing and many of us were not involved,
they go to campaign always and we let them do their thing. This woman was
doing good, she got elected in just Sept 2012 she did not need an election.
But in the back ground we knew that she was interested into the referendum
and that sent a reminder to all of us that she was a sleeping lion, but that
lion had not rolled yet so we are okay. She was recruited by René Lévesque
and at one point she was her minister in a couple of portfolios, that sent a
chill about her as well. Well just out of the blue she raised up and decided
to go after non-French in Quebec, she went after the crucifix and the Hijab,
the language Police was reinvented, and all religious crucifix were about to
be burnt. Now you have waken the entire country we are now walking
backwards. Sadly weak as the government we have in Ottawa the conservatives
failed to raise at her and she kept on building her own demise safely.

It is important to note that when she was elected in September 2012, a
Francophone Summit was about to take place in DRC in October same year,
this woman travelled to DRC to represent Quebec as if Quebec was an
independent state. We ended up represented by the government delegation
which included the prime minister and a delegation out of Quebec lead by
this new leader of Quebec. Let me state this too, when a province elects a
leader, the prime minister sends a message of congratulating then they work
out a way to a first official meeting. Stephen Harper’s first meeting with
Pauline Mario’s was in DRC when she popped up with a full delegation
representing Quebec with a full Quebec flag. We actually had two flags in
DRC. With that back ground when you start to go after every non English you
end up toast. It has been a very good day today, the markets have flown off
the shelves, I think our dollar has gained a full ten cent today. But here
is the kicker, seperists are not done yet, when you read the results of this
election critically, yes they have been beaten but they have walked out with
a margin of 32% popular support.

Trust me they will are going to raise their head one more time. But for now
this is a time to build the country.

Folks

For me the lesson from the crushing defeat of the PQ in Quebec is that smart
opposition parties pounce when the governing party stumbles. They also stay
on message and talk bread and butter issues to the masses.

And yes the voters voted in favor federalism and against threats or
blackmail in the form of secession.

When the election call was made the race was the PQ's to lose until the
Premier lost message and mused about referendum and all that. The
opposition liberals were then handed an opening which they fully exploited.

Now contrasts that with Ugandan where the sections of the opposition sided
with one NRM camp-Pm Mbabazi's-than stay silent and let NRM eat itself while
they put their houses in order in readiness to pounce. Even when Mr. Tear
Gas delivers for them, they still have no clue. They are now obsessed with
so called tapes.

Politics is about ideas. God ideas at that. The moment your ideas threaten
voters or create uncertainty, forget it.

I say it again, any day, I will trust the masses over the bumbling pumbavu
elite.

Mulindwa;

What has happened in Canada is a clear message against separatism but in
favour of devolve power. Canadians want the federal system to remain intact
and that is exactly what UFA under the able leadership of Betty Kamya is
calling for and that is what Akim Odong and and many others are echoing.

Betty Kamya's resignation letter will not be acceptable by the party,
because she is still capable not only for the party but for the country as a
whole. She has shown maturity that few politicians in Uganda have managed.
She is a politician Ugandan opposition should take seriously. Currently, the
opposition are going round the country and chose not to include Betty Kamya
and UFA party. This is a very serious mistake and i request that the
oppositions reconsider their action.

Mulindwa, politics is a journey which many attempt to undertake but few,
very few reach where they want to be. Betty has just began that journey, one
that will take her across many hills, valleys and rivers; her resilience is
what will see her through and she has exhibited from the outset that within
her, she is has got what it takes. She is able to think on the hooves and
the many of her thoughts which she managed to put together early in the
journey and has become known as the "Betty Kamya's theory" against
dictatorship is what has convinced me and others that its only a few, who
embark on this political journey not to consume the fruit that lay in wait
at the end of it, but to bring the fruit to all that need it. And that is
what Betty Kamya's call for federalism is all about. To bring the fruits of
empowerment, the fruits of rights, the fruit of inclusiveness, the fruit of
justice, and the fruit ownership. This is the sort of sacrifice so few make
for so many. It is the sacrifice i Akim Odong has decided to make along side
Betty Kamya so that, the many who are dazed, confused and have lost their
mojo, can partake of this national fruit.

Finally, Uganda like Canada, will go federal. and like Canada which is home
to you Mulindwa, will mature in politics and like Canada it will remain
intact under many states. Yesterday;s Canadian election and the democracy in
which it was conducted depicts Ugandan's democracy not now, but in years to
come, under a federal system sowed by Betty Kamya..

I was so tired last night, as I was so excited with the winning of my party
into Quebec. I simply dosed off and slept without getting the resignation on
my table. It seems barely 3 hours after I dosed off Gwokto got the
resignation from this fool. She threatened the country and she threatened us
with a referendum which we have already passed, she lived in the past and
today she is erased. I will not be surprised to find her tomorrow morning on
Bay street working with investors now that she studied social work. There is
a couple of things to recognize on this woman, she married a man that
studied business and he bought a gas station at age 17. She tried so much to
win a leadership race of the party and when she won the first time, a man
with a gun walked into a hall to take her head off, he shot and killed one
of her technician and a bullet bruised another man. This man failed to do
damage for his gun luckily jammed.

Betty this is what democratic people do, when EM goes to bed when he knows
they have lost an election, EM wakes up with a firkin resignation on the
table. They never hold society ransom. Party Quebecor has lost this election
to almost getting erased, but it is not dead yet, it is going back to the
drawing board and come next election we will be prepared to go after it one
more time. This country is important for all of us to live in but not to
slice into smaller pieces. When you lose an election and you tag along you
become a menace to society, so are you so is Dr Kiiza Besigye so is every
one that gets defeated and fails to move on. Betty it is time you draft your
resignation letter and hand it to Abbey Ssemuwemba for posting. I need to
read it when I come back from work and today.

Do you at minimum love Uganda that far? Just

She gambled, and she lost. And in the face of defeat, Quebec Premier Pauline
Marois announced that she will resign as Parti Quebecois leader following an
crushing election defeat which saw the Liberals win a majority government.

To add insult to injury, Quebec's first female premier couldn't even retain
her seat in the riding of Charlevoix-Cote-de-Beaupre.

"This evening, you'll understand that under the circumstances I will be
leaving my post," she told a subdued crowd in Montreal.

The early analysis is that Marois led a horrible campaign full of missteps
and unfocused messaging, which included a lot of talk about a referendum
that Quebecers many clearly weren't interested in.

In Marois' defence, she can't be blamed for her star-candidate Pierre Karl
Peledeau proclaiming that he wanted an independent Quebec (Incidentally, PKP
won his seat).

But she can and must be blamed for her outlandish musings about sovereignty.

Early in the campaign, over the course of two days, Marois shared that she
wanted her own country independent of Canada. She wanted travellers in both
nations to be able to go back and forth without borders and passports. She
wanted to use the Canadian dollar, to seek a seat at the Bank of Canada, and
to study the issue of offering dual citizenship to Quebecers.

Marois also has to wear her party's Charter strategy, not to mention her
silence in response to the discriminatory comments of PQ candidates with
regard to Muslims and other religious minorities.

But while the last 30 days have certainly been egregious, its important to
note that Marois' focus on sovereignty and identity politics didn't start
one month ago at the beginning of the campaign. That has been the focus for
much of her 18 months in power.

On election night in 2012, the new premier made no bones about her
intentions.

"I would like to talk to our friends and neighbours in Canada," she said
during her victory speech.

"As a nation we want to make the decisions about the things that are
important for us. We want a country. And we will have it."

.jpg> Marois wasn't able to achieve her goal of an independent Quebec but in
many subtle ways, she masterfully forwarded her sovereignty agenda.

In Septemebr 2012, the Canadian flag was
<http://metronews.ca/news/canada/373271/maple-leaf-taken-down-again-from-que
bec-legislature/> removed from the Quebec legislature as members of the PQ
were sworn into office.

In December of that year, the government proposed
<http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/legault-confirms-bill-14-won-t-pass-1.1187569>
Bill 14, which would have strengthened Quebec's French language laws. One of
the caveats included in the legislation was an edict ordering companies with
26 to 50 employees to obtain Certificates of Francization, indicating that
all communications within the workplace were in French.

Marois also embarked on a
<https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/quebec-premier-pauline-maro
is-takes-sovereignty-road-show-190557715.html> Quebec independence road
show, of sorts.

In December 2012 in New York, the premier addressed a crowd of well-heeled
business types, telling them that they shouldn't lose sleep over an
independent Quebec.

And in January 2013
<https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/quebec-sovereignty-still-ve
ry-much-story-131653175.html> Marois was in Scotland supporting a Scottish
independence movement.

"It will show that this [independence] is not an old idea, but a very modern
idea, and Scotland is an example in this perspective," Marois told
reporters.

"It will tell Quebeckers that it is still possible to attain the objective."

And then there was the Values Charter, which would have banned public
employees from wearing religious symbols in public institutions.

>From day one, minority groups and opponents of the legislation accused the
government of using the legislation to create a wedge between Francophones
and the rest of Canada.

And it almost worked. That's what she did with a minority government — just
imagine what she could have done with a majority!

Tonight, many Quebecers and Canadians are surely happy that they will never
have to find out.

Au revoir Madame Marois. Au revoir.
