We have seen the reports about the Secondary School Science Education in Uganda. *But nobody seems to tell us about the state of our Biology.* Brother Mulindwa, you have been posting stuff on the Heart-bleed Computer virus that brought down Canada’s Department of Revenue; and other departments. The the youth that has been fingered as the originator of this virus is a19-year-old second-year student at Western University. *His dad is deep in Computational Biology.* One needs plenty of Maths for this New Biology. In mid 1930’s Erwin Schrodinger, the co-father of Quantum Theory together with Werner Heisenberg, in his paper “What is Life” argues that life is based on two pillars*, “Negative Entropy, and Quantum behaviour.* He argues that *persistence of inherited characterists * can only be of Quantum origin. So this calls for heavy duty Maths for our Biology. Remember this is the Century for Biology. Big time. To explore this new Biology one will need tons and tons of “Modern Algebra” or Abstract Algebra, as it is at times called. Uganda must start by revamping our Maths Curriculum. And for this I propose that next year we start offering three Maths Subjects in P6 and P7. And maybe two or three Maths Subjects for O.L. I also propose an extra two Subjects of A.L Maths,(1) Linear Algebra and (2) Vector Calculus; on top of the single subject A.L Maths that is offered now. Let us start next year. For we who have invested so much in Maths are you waiting until we are dead? We the teachers are ready to start with this program next year.
