Why not? God is there for us all, regardless!
Before he resigned, the Pope first made up his mind through prayer,
reflexion and sincere recollection.
He also sought the advice of his spiritual adviser, and at length! What he
did was for the good of the Church, and that's why he is very popularly
respected for that move and has been praised by his successor for having
taken a good decision after consulting God through prayer, an act of full
humility! No sin in that!
Centuries earlier, one Pope who resigned was even canonized a saint for his
humility.
God listens to everybody, even to great criminals whom He helps to repent!
Jesus on the Cross listened to the demand of that criminal who had been
crucified with Him and promisezd him Heaven right away!
And the outgoing Pope wasn't a criminal but a very holy Church leader who
felt he couldn't have all necessary energy to continue in office! And what's
wrong with that? I wish some leaders draw inspiration from him, you'll only
see the better for the better!
