In the series I have posted so far, I have managed to show how violent Acholi
are and how they permanently stood in the way of Idi Amin’s government but
shared with him the murder of Ugandans. Acholis were the back bone of Uganda
National Liberation Front which fought its way out of Tanzania to Uganda but
removed Iddi Amin from power. Acholis were fundamental in both installing The
Obote two government, as well as removing it. The crimes committed by Acholis
under Obote II, especially in West Nile and Luwero triangle, is well
documented particularly in Buganda . They were responsible for installing
Yoweri Museveni in power the government they blame during the day, but goes to
bed with at night. Ladies and gentlemen who are these people who have so many
different colors that if you talk about one of the colors or more you are
branded a criminal? Acholis are a very few people, only a mere 4% of the entire
Uganda population, so how do they manage to accomplish all that when they are
that few? How did only 4% of the entire population an example, manipulate us
as Ugandans to drive our trucks into Gulu and ended up crippling an elected
government? To get an answer to those questions this series is going to address
what creates an Acholi family. Who is an Acholi and how does he/she build his
family. On record, I am not going to go back into history of how Acholi tribe
got created and how it ended up in Uganda for we have studied that in our
entire national history, what I am going to write today is based on what we
managed to find when we worked into the region and for many years.

When we get children as Baganda we educate them and bring them up with an open
mind, so they get educated and left with a choice of what they want to do. Go
to school get education and whatever your head is capable to do end up doing
it. Acholis actually bring up their children to only do two things {a} go to
Kampala be a politician and fight to lead Uganda or end up a politician or {b}
if you cannot be a politician to lead Uganda join the armed forces. This
upbringing is so serious in an Acholi family that in the home there are only
two occasions which makes an Acholi family sit on a table. To eat a meal and
also to listen to the news. In all tribes we have in Uganda it is only Acholi
parents that sit with their children to listen to the news no matter what age,
and they end up discussing the issues read for the day, and this is done as on
a daily basis. Acholi children are brought up politically radicalized and by
force. An Acholi parent does not shelter his children from anything that
happens in a home as long as it is politically inclined, because that is a duty
of that child for he/she is an Acholi. And here is a very good example as I
quote Mr. George Okello “If Luwum said he knew Acholis were planning a coup
(actually rebellion or uprising), who else in Uganda did not know this? Even me
as a 5 year old child knew that many Acholi and Langi men and women were
secretly being recruited to go to Sudan or Tanzania to fight against the
regime. I know this because one night, 28 young men from Dokolo were recruited
by Commanders Mary Ogwal and Aol, in my father's bedroom and we were sworn to
total secrecy never to tell anyone about it.“ –George Okello. End quote. To
you as a Muganda parent, to you as a Musoga parent, to you as a Mukiga parent,
to you as a Jap parent, to you as an Alur parent yes we all join but follow
political issues in our country, but who risks a God damn 5 year old child to a
site of people being recruited to go and get trained to murder people? How do
you allow your own child at age 5 to witness such, but most importantly you
involve him into this mission that much to a point of swearing him to a total
secrecy at age 5. Who swears a 5 year old to secrecy but an Acholi parent? He
is a firkin five year old, and he needs to be protected from such. And yet to
Acholis this is an honor and the children must be radicalized in everything
political from birth. It is important to not as well that George Okello who is
in London, has limited his daughter to only becoming a leader of UPC. Even
though this kid is no longer in the Dokolo Ghettos, even though this kid is in
UK but she has only one future, to be a leader of UPC in Uganda house and end
up a Uganda leader.

Let us go on numbers to understand what politics means to Acholis, for numbers
have never abandoned me. I am going to use the numbers out of 1996 presidential
election and use Apach district as an example. In that election 169,583 votes
were cast in Apach district. Now watch this, Kibaale 98,801. Bundibugyo
53,819. Hoima 68,000. Jinja 100,617. Kalangala 7,068. Kapchorwa 51,734. Kasese
123,788. Kiboga 51,526. Kisoro 73,711. Kotido 45,587. Kumi 96,087 Luwero
150,127. Masindi 87,977. Moroto 43,662. Moyo 46,840. Nebbi 112,732. Ntungamo
134, 379. Paliisa 133,190. Rakai 121,156. Soroti 161,029. All Districts I have
so listed got fewer voters than Apach for to Apach citizen voting is the only
ultimatum. I can use Gulu, I can use KItgum and I can use any I so need, same
results. If you want to compare Apach to major metropolitans, Apach had
169,583 voters and Kampala the capital had 284,759, they almost beat Kampala
the national capital. That is how Acholis regard Uganda politics and that is
how they are involved in their 4% of the entire population. I know friends that
were in the police force and they hated recruiting in Acholi-land for the
entire tribe shows up to join.

Because Acholis are brought up to only lead Uganda or be in armed forces, they
are the only tribe that is mostly born out of district. Almost 85% of Acholis
are born out of Acholi and that for some reason limits them from cultural
contacts let alone upbringing. And you can easily find a one claiming to be an
Acholi yet born in Karamoja. How did that happen? The mother was the DC. When
you go to Buganda you will see a family with a son in the army and only one
son, but because the life of Acholis is only limited to leading Uganda or being
in the armed forces, Acholis are the only tribe that you can find from the
entire Uganda where a grandfather was in the army, the father was in the army,
the son is in the army, and the grand son is in the army. The nephew the cousin
the uncle and the step sister are also all in the army. I have seen very many
members complaining about the communication styles used by some of the Acholis
in the forum, I need to remind you that many actually grew up in military
barracks establishments, they thus missed the set-up of public and social
communication training. When you pull them out of a barracks and put them into
a setting as UAH, they will have a whole trouble adjusting to communicating and
public address. They are brought up that way. Let us never ever forget that it
took a human being 5,000 years to domesticate a God damn cat.
