On record I did not oppose Olara Otunnu, what you as degree holders define as {
You launched into your anti-Otunnu rants as soon as Otunnu announced his
candidacy} as soon as he announced his candidacy. I actually opposed him
before he even knew he was going to be called on to lead the party. So let us
kindly get that out of the way. I was informed on a suggestion to talk to him
to lead the party, and I specifically told the source that gave me that
information to stop with that plan and do not make the phone call to him for he
is not going to be a good leader of the party, and he has a whole whack of bag
pack he is carrying. The source ignored my advice but made the phone call
anyways and Olara Otunu jumped at it immediately. So let us not confuse
ourselves here, I have never had any agenda to oppose Otunnu for I did not see
him leading the party. My God you had to resurrect from infamy to believe that
he is a good leader to lead the party given its circumstances. But within there
one can see your weakness a weakness that happens in many of your degree holder
irks, you see people with many degrees and you vuvuzela them as best leaders
in so coming. And that is the tragedy facing Uganda today for the none educated
think educated will clean up the country, the educated do not even want to talk
to you when you do not have a degree. And here we end up with fools like Olara
Otunnu that would have served their country better had they not got involved
themselves into political crap. And let me go after this well that now you have
opened it up. Can you imagine otunnu if he did not involve himself with
Museveni and Tito Okello, a people he very well knew are losers and will kill
for anything. Can you just imagine how useful he would have been today? And
today he is fucked to appoint that I will be very surprised if he does not join
us in Toronto. “Your attacks on Otunnu, however, become more pronounced and,
you gave a perspective to it, when you began your anti-Acholi series” Edward
Pojim
I believe that you posted that sentence before you critiqued it, kindly read it
through then we will discuss it, hope you reach the very same conclusion I have
reached that it was pp[ousted in error.

Mr. Mulindwa;
All respect, sir, stop your laughable defense.
You launched into your anti-Otunnu rants as soon as Otunnu announced his
candidacy. I, on the other hand, only raised concerns about Akena's suitability
for the top job after he had physically confronted Otunnu. I heightened that
later after it was evident that Akena was motivated by some inheritance rights
in seeking Otunnu's position.
Your attacks on Otunnu, however, become more pronounced and, you gave a
perspective to it, when you began your anti-Acholi series.
So, while I criticized Akena for threatening violence against Otunnu, you
opposed Otunnu from the beginning because he is an Acholi .

The reason I went after you was that you attacked Jimmy Akena for he is a son
of Obote. I did not respect that but I did not expect it from you. Secondly
watch very carefully how Amin was created as a monster, it was because these
friends piled up on him and compared him to Hitler. Now look closely as this
thread continues, they have dropped the name of Jurruga to Jurruga Amin, not
for he is the father but the agenda here is to make sure that whenever Juruga
opens his mouth everyone sees an Iddi Amin a monster that even ate his son
called Juruga, by the way who happens to be alive today. Well let us go at
Jimmy Akena, well his name of Akena has been dropped as well and he is now
identified as Jimmy Obote. Why? Because they need to depict him as a true copy
of Obote and thus nothing good can come out of him. So they raise up to put you
exactly in a wrong through association. But let me as well add that these same
friends go bonkers the moment you classify Olara Otunnu with the Okello’s,
that is totally un acceptable, and at the rate we are going they are soon going
to tell us how they were even un related. So these friends are sure on their
game of name tarnishing.
Some of us have been with these Acholi gimmicks long enough to understand them
that I wondered how you fell for them.

SP:
If you may recall, I have brought to the attention this forum the hooliganism
with which Akena has promoted his interest in wrestling UPC leadership from
Olara Otunnu.
Unfortunatekly, each time I raised this legitimate concern, none other than
Edward Mulindwa and Nyar drowned me out, and accused me of hatred towards the
Obote family.
When I first raised this issue, Akena had come close to physically assaulting
Otunnu at UPC headquarters. Mulindwa said then that Otunnu deserved it, because
he was "appointed in a Nairobi hotel room", not elected by a popular vote.
Folks, Akena has exhibited uncouth, and probably unstable, outbursts that
should in no way be associated with a leader. I don't begrudge him for standing
for the party's presidency, but I have always advised him to be civil in his
pursuit.
As I see it now, Akena will hasten the demise of UPC. In a way, I think that
would be his wish, too; that if the party presidency leaves the Obote family,
UPC could as well die and be
de-registered as a political party.
There are still some leadership potentials within that party, including our own
Joseph Ochieno here. But, I doubt if any of them has the audacity to stand up
to the ghost of Obote that has swallowed his son.

Ocaya Mike pOcure,
This is the time I blame our UPC supporters for letting a few people taint the
party. Some equally charged people should check on those hooligans through
courts of law. With ICT gadgets, the leaders could be identified and sued.
It is not Otunnu losing big time but UPC; some people must be asking why they
should vote for leaders in such a party and I do not blame them as that is a
conscious and legitimate question to ponder.

UAH folks,
Mop Justice is not within the civil jurisprudence,
There are some punks who feel mop justice is normal within the UPC party, which
made even the likes of the late OPOND Acak, the whole Chief of Staff of the
ruling UPC government started spraying bombs in the residential homes of his
own army by passing the President. This is what had happened lately on OLARA
Otunnu, which had been the very trademarks of Akena OBOTE, AJOK, AMONGI and
others who claimed they are very rightful owners to violent dispensations.
Both in short and the long run UPC as a political party has according to the
NRA/M7ism script is a single district party meanwhile those are kneejerk on
destroying or even killing OLARA Otunnu do not know where they going. There
must be civil respects rather than going brutal against the innocent OLARA
Otunnu who was not in the war theatre, which hastened the military takeover of
the UPC government in July 1985! The man was in New York meanwhile the UNLA
Chief of Staff, who was caught in broad-day light commanding the tribal army in
spraying bombs to the residential homes of ACOLI UNLA officers with dire
consequents!
Lastly, who is enjoying this games of humiliation of OLARA Otunnu and how will
Akena OBOTE and his thugs will mitigate his political genome in Acoli
sub-region? Today with the coming of Information Technology and Internet, we do
see what we hear and frankly the UPC party the late OBOTE led had changed
meanwhile this type of school compound bully would boomerang on Akena OBOTE and
cahoots!

I wonder if in this case his Holiness will support the Akena supporters to be
sprayed by that pink stuff he was sprayed with last time. Anyways he survived
attacks before so he knows which floor of Uganda House to barricade him self
in. He will be okay.

Edward,
I am tongue-tied; when will these people learn a bit of civility? After getting
such wide support and assurance of leadership, can't they hold their excitement
for just a short while? May be it was a mistake to disregard the party
constitution in allowing Akena to register after the dead line for
nomination/registration had passed.
What example are those people showing the rest of Ugandans, that force is the
best alternative to reason? What will happen when Akena's term comes to an end
or that is it, no end till death?
I wish Hon. Akena and team success as they transverse the country.

Otunnu's critics have all along, accused him of "holding UPC" hostage, due to
some perceived inaction. Under the incoming administration, UPC will be laid to
rest, and buried next to its founder, Apollo Milton Obote.
This hooliganism, which the Akena group had meted out on Otunnu throughout his
tenure, is actually their only calling cards: they have no leadership stuff
there.

Mr. Nsubuga:
Old habits die hard. Why could not UPC delegates let the electoral process work
its way to its logical conclusion> Why force the EC to declare a winner? And
why attack Mr. Otunnu? I thought delegates were elected to go to the national
delegates conference to pick leaders? Or did UPC make it clear that whoever
got the majority of delegates would be declared president immediately?
I have said it over and over that political parties cannot give Uganda
democracy if the parties themselves do not practice democracy. I mean if the
stakes can be that high over really nothing significant politically, what if
the stakes were about something higher for Uganda?

Chaos broke out this Friday afternoon at the opposition Uganda People’s
Congress Headquarters in Kampala, where the outgoing party President Dr Olara
Otunnu was accosted by supporters of the in-coming Hon Jimmy Akena.
Akena was last week voted UPC President by party delegates across the country
amidst contestation of reported irregularities.
His supporters gathered at the party headquarters on Monday evening and forced
the party electoral commission to declare him the winner.
The commissioners’ pleas to wait for the full confirmed results from all
districts across the country fell on the supporters’ deaf ear.
Some UPC members including outgoing president Olara Otunnu were agitated by
these irregularities that marred the whole process, and called for action.
Otunnu reportedly called for establishment of a review board to assess and
possibly overturn the Monday election results.
This however did not go down well with Mr Akena’s supporters and the currently
boiling turmoil was born.
Today Friday afternoon, this group mobilized and invaded Uganda House and
together with some administrators thereat, tried to assault Dr Otunnu in his
office.
Amidst wild chants, they locked him inside his office and dared him to step
out. Our reporter tells us, Dr Otunnu was minutes later helped by thy
sympathizers to escape though the side of the toilets.
Otunnu declared last month that he did not intend to stand again as UPC
president, and that he would serve until the end of his term.
However with the growing tension, some of Mr Akena’s supporters want him to
resign now and hand over to the new president elect, who is also son to the
party’s founding father Dr Milton Obote, something that is against the party
constitution.
