Friends
As an update to this sad story, we now have a life lost in this tragedy. This
was a tour bus taking a group of Chinese on a tour, the last report I saw was
that the driver is stating that he had a mechanical issue for the bus refused
to respond to commands. We will leave that to the investigators they will make
their findings and we go from there.
This accident has raised another issue of interest, all municipalities and all
jurisdictions prepare for such accidents. Good Lord we have people that walk
with cells and phones all over the place only waiting for that phone call, no
matter it is winter, it is night, it is what have you. An accident falls and
everyone is in. By last evening I was even posting the hardware that had been
posted to the scene, so this information is that readily available. There was a
problem at this accident that raised out interest, as all these services were
going in, all occupants of the bus were only speaking Mandarin. To rescue an
accident victim, first responders must be able to communicate with the accident
victims. So as services were coming in, as cities like Ottawa and Kingstone
hospitals were readying themselves with emergency hubs, first responders had a
problem communicating. And it is so strange that this situation has not raised
its head before, for we have so many touring buses, people from East Europe
from what have you, it is strange that no one ever thought this through?
Most of the banks today have language services, so you walk in and you will be
served, some languages take a while to sort out but you will be served. Big
cities like Toronto you no longer need to know English to call 911, you pick
you phone and call 911, and you speak in Luganda and the officer will
communicate. It is all computerized already, just speak your language service
will show up. How the hell no one figured out that we can have an accident on
a remote area with a bus full of victims only speaking a foreign language?
Heads are scratched right now and trust me a solution is going to be found, but
it is bizarre that it came as a surprise.
They backed off and fired out a need for Mandarin translators and they got
them, but when you’re at a small place as they were, your major investment in
saving these lives is time, and they lost that.

We now understand that ORNGE the helicopter ambulance service in Ottawa has
sent an air ambulance to this scene, and it is on its way back into Ottawa to
the trauma center. Toronto ORNGE has as well been instructed to send one of our
air ambulances to the scene, and it is already out heading that way. To be
exact, the incident occurred near Blue Church Rd. and Hwy. 401, near Prescott,
Ont., about 15 kilometres east of Brockville. On man power, we now know that
Fifteen ambulances, two helicopters and one fixed-wing aircraft have been
deployed to the scene, with patients taken both to Ottawa and Kingston. There
are a massive presence of OPP {Ontario Provincial Police} cruisers, and
Brockville Police officers at the site.
If you are driving out of Ottawa or Montreal towards Toronto this is just west
of the 401/416 connect. So you cannot drive from 401/416 connect into
Brockville. The reason I am insisting on this is because when you fail to reach
Brockville you have very few options to cut off this closure.
All West bounders I repeat are closed.

Friends
We are getting several reports about a major accident on 401 at Prescott, and
that is just south of the city of Ottawa. Numerous agencies are being called
in, and by this posting the information is still trailing in, but we know so
far that a tour bus has gone off the road and into a ditch. We are being told
that 4 passengers have suffered life-threatening injuries, we know that 20
passengers have none life-threatening injuries. We also know that all lanes of
highway 401 West bound have been closed in the area to allow massive emergency
services to access the site. We do not know what tour company is involved here,
and we do not know how many passengers were on the bus in total.
We have a large number of Ugandans in all these areas, right from TR to the
Ottawa Kingston axis, let us keep our eyes on this one as it develops.
