- Dr Kizza Besigye
It all starts with expectations, what are the expectations of Ugandans from
their country let alone from their government? I am a Canadian citizen and I
expect my government to protect me from violence. We still sleep in this
country with only one lock on the main door. In all years I have lived in this
country I have never slept in a bedroom with a door of the bed room locked.
Unless I am in a hotel and still that hotel door will be locked but the bed
room door will have no lock, that is my expectation and I get it. I was driving
in United States and reached a stop sign, stopped and made a judgement call
that it was turn to go through, the driver in the opposite street made a
judgement call that it was his turn to go, we both left the same time and I
passed him and left, he pulled out a revolver and waved it at me. And to today
I am sure if I did not have a Canadian plate I would have probably taken a
bullet. That can never happen in this city and in this country no matter you
are licensed to own a weapon. You pull it in that manner you lose the license.
We are allowed to scream at bad drivers, but if you open your door and leave
your car walk to his car and scream at him that is an assault, and if he calls
the cops on you there is a charge.
What do Ugandans expect from their government in 2020?
When Iddi Amin came to power in 1971 many Ugandans especially UK screamed that
his government is the worst for it is a military government, as a man that had
travelled through military governments, that was a civilian government. Amin’s
government had absolutely nothing to equate with a military government, it was
a good and fair African government, a couple of bad things here and there, but
by far Amin’s government was the only greatest government you will ever get in
this century. If you question that then you need to live in a military ran
state to realize the beauty of Amin’s government. The man made it very clear,
do not interfere with my government, if you want to take me out of power I am
going to go after you. Every Ugandan that never bothered his government,
Ugandans actually lived very normal lives. The scarcity of goods that happened
in Uganda were created by Ugandans that were in Tanzania, never by Iddi Amin.
Do you know why all soldiers were dressed with the colors and plate numbers of
their brigades? You would look at a soldier and by his plate number and the
color of the belt you would know his brigade. I remember Masindi infantry was
using BT plate for I knew kids there. So they had a UA for Uganda army,
followed by a BT which was the brigade identifier, and a serial number like
096, thus UABT069. That would tell me that this particular Land Rover is from
Masindi artillery, and I would follow up with the brigade commander to report
the behavior of that particular Land Rover. The reason they were identified
that way, was to make sure that every soldier understands that any complaint
about them, starts with the brigade commander, not your Sargent, not your
platoon commander, not your barracks commander, the complaint was starting from
the brigade commander. By the time that commander narrows down to the barracks
where you serve, you have dropped yourself into a pit latrine already, no
matter you were a Munubbi kid of a firkin Sheik Kamulegeya. Between 1971 to
1979 there is not a single Uganda woman that was ever raped in Uganda by a
soldier. Not even one, and if you know one raise your hand today. There is no
known case of a Uganda Army soldier that stole money, a watch, a suit, a car or
any property from a Ugandan. There were people that were in Uganda to just put
a thumb into every soldier’s nose, and every case charged to a soldier was
classified as a case done to fail the Field Marshall, no you never wanted that
accusation on your file. Do you know how they were addressing them if they
wanted to talk toa soldier? He would yell out a sentence like “Eh nani jina
lako pumbavu?” You turn around salute him and say your name and very slow, to
make sure he understands it. Follow up with your sergeant name, your barracks
and you demand to please know how you can be of value to the officer. Many
times he mistook you for a different officer.
Uganda had no computer system yet finding those plates and identifying those
soldiers was simple as one instruction from the brigade commander, to bring the
firkin Land Rover that tried to fail the Field Marshall by behaving badly in
public.
I have been in Uganda and seen the NRA soldiers how do you identify them? How
do you know who is who? I have seen sandals in the feet, gum boots that are
green and some are yellow, I have seen soldiers walking on bare feet, by the
way what is the official uniform as we speak? How the hell do you know who is
who? Pangerasio Onek had a very easy way to remind a soldier how to clean the
shoes, he calls you out and shoots your feet, every time you see or feel the
bullet wound, you pull out the shoe polish and clean the government shoe. Every
Ugandan must look at a Uganda Army soldier, a Ugandan police officer, as well
as a prison officer and say “Na yunifomu yako Na’nga !!!!!” And the only
response he needs from you is Ndiyo Affande. Not less not more just Ndiyo
Afande. And you had this president that would pop into any office at any time,
we were working 24 hours in Luwero telephone exchange, for he was about to put
up a first district, and he walks in about 3am, he was coming from Arua, and
his car broke down, he looked for a post office to call the State House for a
car. And there the crap was bold and beautiful on our door, by the time the
cars arrived, he had a screw driver installing cables. That was the Iddi Amin I
saw. Hands on and readily available. He toured all Saza headquarters from
Ndejje Bowa Bamunanika back into kikyusa just to make sure that all Saza chiefs
work on that Friday, for he had instructed the Monday to be the day off. He
walks in and the Sazza chief left on Friday leaving a soldier attending the
office, he makes the solider the saza chief. Practical and available. Do you
know why he adored No parking? He was the only soldier that saluted the
president at Nile Mansion when boarding a helicopter, the helicopter lands in
Fort Portal and No Parking opens the door of the helicopter to salute him in
Fort Portal.
Just do not be close to the road when No Parking is driving the 504 right hand,
to arrive at the same time with the helicopter in fort portal. Just don’t.
When Ugandans like Pink saw all that they called Uganda a hell on earth, they
removed the government and they are running it to today. Between 1979 and 1986
3/4s of all Uganda women got raped by soldiers, from age 13 to age 90, take
your pick, if you had a nicker they grounded you. In Luwero Acholi not only
raped women and girls but they were raping daughters In front of their mothers,
mothers In front of their husbands and asking the husbands to scream, some
Acholi would walk to the mother, take out a dick and ask her if it is a bad
dick compared to a Muganda dick, then use that very dick to rape the daughter
in front of the mother. I was going to Luwero on a TTC, we stopped at Naluvule
road block, and they took out every girl that was coming from school for they
were studying in Kampala, and going by bus every day. They took about 10 of
them and we were instructed to leave, all those girls got mass raped. If that
was done by a Uganda Army road block, all those soldiers would have been put on
a firing squad the next Sunday. And Cassim Obura would have signed on their
death documents. Ugandans call that a hell on earth.
Well guess what? Thank God you got a heaven on earth, enjoy for that is what
you want. After the attack on Barlonyo camp an Acholi woman said that everyone
is telling us about the Luwero massacre, I do not even know what is Luwero or
where it is. What happened in Luwero? Well guess what? Today as I write this
piece all Acholi and all Langi know the history of Luwero and what was done in
it. There is no Acholi old lady out there that wonders what the heck is Luwero,
they know it on the map of Uganda for they were explained on what is Luwero and
what happened in Luwero on a Go damn black board. That is your heaven on earth
you failed to get out of the Amin’s hell on earth. The heaven on earth has
brought even new terms in Uganda terminology, for example Ekiddo, firkin Load
Shedding, Boda-boda, The LDUs I never heard of any of those terms during the
hell on earth, you were left with your local leaders, Ow’Esazza Ewa’Kyaato,
Omuluka level, the only thing he changed was to put all ministries to the
district level, so you had a district cultural officer, a district education
officer and all ministries were represented at a district level. He called that
a district team and planning committee. Tell me this who is the head of the
other in heaven on earth? Is it the LDC or the RC1? Do you even have a firkin
clue !!!!!!
Ugandans are too shallow to even understand the value of what they have, for
Amin was the last star of David to that country, today Rwanda is using Ugandans
as a guinea pigs on the laws to be put in Rwanda. Last night I talked about the
economic sabotage, today I raise the experimentation of laws. Paul Kagame
installed the RC system in Uganda it failed and he never took it to Rwanda. The
Guinea Pigs are Ugandans. And do you know who is going to experiment with you
next after the Rwandese? The next president of Uganda is going to be a Somali
straight out of Mogadishu. Your women are going to drop all the Gomesis to
replace them with lutayizo. All men are going to be forcefully circumcised to
get a government job, Matooke is going to be banned and replaced with Ugali. It
is coming it is only when.
Mayimuna Kenyi called Donald J Trump the enemy of world peace, from that very
day I started to support Joe Biden. Do you know why? Because many of the wars
that ran during the Obama administration were actually pushed by Joe Biden. For
you to see that there is a walking man and woman In Yemen today is because
Obama tampered it down as much as he could. Joe Biden wanted to carpet Yemen,
he wanted to carpet bomb Syria, he wanted to carpet bomb Afghanistan, he wanted
to carpet bomb Libya. Joe Biden’s sentence was very short, do no leave a
walking Dog. All these things failed to materialize for only two things
happened in the Obama administration, Obama tried his best to fight off Biden.
The second point that is very important here, is that in as much as Joe Biden
was screaming, Obama ran out of bombs. The single largest prize God is going to
hand Mayimuna Kenyi is a Joe Biden presidency, after Donald J Trump has spent
trillions of dollars and 4 full years restocking up the bombs and re-arming the
military. The Defense today has new ships, new planes, new bombers and a full
supply of new smart bombs. United States is going to hold a war in the first 2
months of Joe Biden presidency for he just has everything he needs,.
Why don’t I use this chance to welcome Mr. Pink in his new heaven on earth in
Uganda, as I welcome Mayimuna Kenyi into a world where the removal of the
threat of international peace will result into the erasing of Syria, Yemen,
Afghanistan and Libya off earth, plus your own kids if they are in the US
military? Is that asking for too much? No I did not thinks so. If you are in
Uganda today, take a moment and thank God for a very good government he has
given to you through this presidency, the entire breakdown of Uganda as a
state, is beginning the very day Museveni stops to breath. I have made so many
predictions on Uganda that have come true to start lying firkin today.
God I forgot my can of Old Milwaukee beer in a firkin freezer !!!!!!!

My name is Daniel Tumwine.
I am being accused of being "arrogant", "long nosed", "privileged"... and being
told "we shall get you when Museveni falls". All virtue of the second name I
carry.
I was born in flat 667 Buganda Road, Kampala, Uganda.
A child of parents persecuted for their profession and beliefs, I grew up a
diaspora kid, on a 400m stretch of bent road in Zimbabwe where 7 other Ugandan
exile families lived.
The only identity I knew then was that together with the Ogaa's, the Kiire's,
the Ndikuwera's, the Okello's, the Mayanja's and many such kids who lived on
that stretch of road in Harare, we were Ugandan. Our exiled parents held home
party's every Sunday to instil a sense of pride in our country, in our flag, in
our regalia.
I speak halting Runyankole. My Luganda is better than my Rukiga. I speak better
Shona than Rutooro. I speak even better English. But the language I try to be
most fluent in is love.
My mother is buried in Mbale, the land of her ancestors. A daughter of a proud
dynasty. A lady who refused to be defined by the confines of her ethnicity and
dared marry outside her tribal boundaries.
And yet, my name -my identity; the imprint of my signature; the label of my
unborn child; the only word I have answered to from birth, from foes, from
family and from friends alike... the embodiment of my DNA- is being
interpreted as an avatar of all that is vile and despicable in Uganda.
It has been scapegoated.
My very existence - my hopes, my struggles, my fears, my anger, my sins, my
broken dreams, my mournings, my triumphs- has been reduced to a synonym for
arrogance, for undeserved achievement, for privilege.
I live, not because of, but despite of the State.
I'm the State's most acerbic critic. I have gained nothing from its machinery
having surnames similar to mine. And, despite opportunities presenting
themselves, I do not feel the need to do so.
My sense of justice does not allow me to consciously benefit from a regime that
has its majority citizens unable to afford good quality health care and good
quality education.
Yet, my closest mates, and those I admire most serving in this government are
mostly from places other than the west.
Similarly, the most arrogant personalities in this government such as the
incredulous Kibuule's, the Majjes of Anite's, the convoy knocking pedestrians
of Justine Lumumba... they can hardly be called westerners.
I do not employ family or friends. No. That's a lie. I employ only one family
member. She is there purely on merit. And I only discovered we were related
years after we employed her. Similarly, those who work for me and share
similar sounding surnames as mine are measured by the same yardstick as
everyone else; character, discipline and competence.
On many occasions I've been accused of 'arrogance' by clans for not putting my
tribes mates first. My family first. My relative first.
I owe any success I may modestly claim to a muganda teacher, a munyankole lady,
a mugisu mother, a mukiga father, an acholi benefactor and a philanthropist
best friend whose tribe I embarrassingly dont even know.
Yet, here I am, today, being caricatured as arrogant and privileged. Unfeeling.
Unempathetic.
If I appear arrogant, it must be because of my proud gishu bloodline. If I am
privileged it is because of my parent's good fortune in meeting in the 70's. If
I am unfeeling and unempathetic, I will not blame anyone, but me. Not my tribe,
not my upbringing, not my school. But me. An individual trait that should not
be generalised.
I have no problem if you demonize me as Daniel. But the demonisation of all
Tumwine's and peoples as a whole must stop.
Our neighbours down south know that it never ends well.
