Hello all!

I started playing around with UIM for Chinese input (using Ubuntu 8.04
and Gnome).

My goal would be to be able to input Traditional Chinese without
necessarily having to type the tones.

For instance, if I type "ni hao ma" (which means "how are you?") with
the simplified pinyin, here is the result: 你好吗
This is exactly what I was expecting. And I didn't input any tone
(using the 1, 2, 3 or 4 key).

When I try typing exactly the same with the Traditional pinyin method,
here is what I get: 妮蒿媽
The third character, 媽, is indeed the traditional correct form of the
simplified 吗... but that's all! The resulting sentence is completely
meaningless.

To get a correct sentence, I need to input all the tones, typing "ni3
hao3 ma", then I get 你好媽...

I tried to play a little with the options, but couldn't get any positive result.

Is there a way of achieving this? If it's not necessary to type the
tones with the simplified method, why is it necessary with the
traditional?

Thanks in advance for any advice you may give :)
