This is not on our "code conventions" page, but I'd like to put it there.
I think we discussed this a long time ago - and found the "apache way" was more to honor the community, rather than call out specific authors of files. For those who wish attribution, the suggestion was to add that to the NOTICES file. It was suggested that this allows less time/energy being spent on whose name should be included (e.g., if someone removes some things, do they get to add their name to the set of "authors"). If no objections, I'll enter a Jira issue to clean up the remaining @author tags.
