Further investigation shows that I am experiencing the same behaviour as William.
I get a NullPointerException and an "Unhandled event loop Exception" at the same place. For me it is simply repeatable New project with nothing in it -> New typeSystemDescriptor -> press add. Its all over I'll try a new version of java next. The problem seems to be generic - any CDE file (new ones (add button) as well) exhibit the same problem. I am running windows xpPro, java 1.6, eclipse 3.3.x (Europa) and uima 2.1.0.
