Hi Greg,

have you tried the Pear packaging Ant task that Michael wrote
for the sandbox:
http://incubator.apache.org/uima/sandbox.html#pear.package.task

It's not Maven, but with the Maven Ant plugin, you should be
able to create Pear files.
