Haim, I just downloaded SemanticSearch_2.1.zip, unpacked it into the %uima_home% of an Apache UIMA v2.2 installation, ran the %UIMA_HOME%/bin/addSemanticSearchJars script, and then followed the directions in section 3.5 of the tutorials_and_users_guides; the CPE ran successfully.
[I did have one problem because I first used cpeGui.bat instead of cpeGuiForSemanticSearch.bat to run the CPE] Did you have the UIMA_HOME environmental parameter set for these steps? None of the distribution files changed? I'm not sure what version of Java is required, I was using Java v5.
