Actually, we've been stung a few times because it isn't clear from the documentation that eclipse itself has to be running under java 1.5 or higher in order for the CDE etc. to work. Many people are used to having lots of versions of java floating around and eclipse picks up whichever one is first on the path. A user might expect that they will have to use 1.5 in their run configurations etc. but that the jvm running eclipse doesn't matter. It is surprising to find that eclipse itself is working but that it doesn't seem to pick up the plugins.

Here's a link to that chapter: http://incubator.apache.org/uima/downloads/releaseDocs/2.2.1-incubating/ docs/html/overview_and_setup/overview_and_setup.html#ugr.ovv.eclipse_set up It's likely you haven't followed the needed steps, including installing the *correct* version of EMF. The easiest way to do this is to carefully follow the instructions in the setup guide. -Marshall chandra sekhar wrote: > Respected sir , > > I am working on uima ,in linux , when I pasted eclipse plugins of uima in > eclipse folder. when i check by doing: > Window->ShowView->other->PDE-plugins , I can able to see uima.desceditor > and other plugins. but when do like: > > descriptor -> new ->others , It doent contain UIMA option. > > please suggest a solution. > > regards > v.chandra sekhar > >
