Coexistence and Transition: Implementing IPv4 and IPv6 in A17, Merchiston Campus, Edinburgh Napier University at 2pm on Friday 4 Feb 2011. Abstract The Internet is undergoing a major evolutionary step with the deployment of IPv6. Fred Baker, Cisco Fellow, former Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Chair, and current chair of the IETF's IPv6 Operations Working Group, will discuss directions for enterprise, SMB, SOHO, and residential networks for the coming 3-5 years. Biography Fred Baker, a Cisco Fellow, has been active in technology development and Internet Standardization since the 1980's. He participated in early development of IEEE 802.1d switching and IP routing. In the IETF, he has written or edited RFCs on a variety of topics, and chaired both working groups and the IETF itself. At this time, he is the IETF's Voting Member on the US NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel, a member of the SGIP's Architecture Committee, and co-chair of the IETF's IPv6 Operations Working Group.
