Subject: [uknof] UKNOF23 Final Information

Once again we have managed to fill all available space for a UKNOF meeting in
London ! Everyone who registered, including standbys, before the cut-off point
at the end of last week when registrations closed will be able to attend, but
I'm afraid we _cannot_ accommodate any further walk-ins on the day. Thank you
everyone for your interest, apologies if you were disappointed, and we hope to
see you on the webcast and next time.

Talks this time around include a session on the Internet traffic impact of the
Olympics and other summer events, talks on the potential operational impact of
the Communications Data Bill & ITU ITRs, development of the Firebrick router,
IPv6 transition and satellite operations wisdom, and updates on the DNS WEIRDS
Whois replacement and other IETF standards developments.

Things kick off this evening with the pre-meeting Curry Social, this time we're
at Brick Lane, kindly sponsored by IX Reach. The venue is:

        http://cinnamonbricklane.co.uk/
        134 Brick Lane
        Aldgate, E1 6RL

With a start time of 6pm. For those who manage to not ingest too much beer at
the above event, we could do with a few more helpers to do venue setup this
evening at 8pm, please contact <[email protected]> ASAP if you're able to
assist.

Google are kindly providing the meeting venue this time around, via their
Campus London facility:

        http://www.campuslondon.com
        4-5 Bonhill Street
        Islington EC2A 4BX
        http://maps.google.com/?q=EC2A+4BX

Thank you also to our main sponsors Andrews & Arnold, and also flexOptix and
Afilias, for covering our catering and other meeting costs for UKNOF23.

As you may have already noticed, a big deal for us this time around is we are
trialling the Indico open-source conference support platform.
This fully-featured package can support more than just all we need for a UKNOF
meeting, but this time we're mainly using it to make presentation upload and
publishing much smoother.

You can find the agenda for the meeting at:

  http://indico.uknof.org.uk/conferenceOtherViews.py?view=standard&confId=24

and the slide decks will be available tomorrow linked from this page.

It's unlikely we'll avoid having a few teething problems with a new system like
this, so please bear with us as we learn and knock the kinks out of it, and
help us by reporting any issues you find to <[email protected]>.

If it works well, we plan to use Indico to support registration and other
features for UKNOF24. A BIG thank you to Nat Morris for all his hard work in
getting this up and running, and to Bytemark for providing the VM server
instance it runs on.

As usual, and for those of you who are not able to come, we will be webcasting
the event, at:

        http://uknof.bogons.net/uknof21.html

with thanks to Bogons and Portfast.

Remote participation is supported by the IRC channel:

        #[email protected]

I'd also like to thank AQL for sponsoring the name badges, which will come with
their unique SIM cards on request.

At the end of the day's proceedings there will be social drinks, generously
sponsored by LINX, at a nearby pub. Detail of the venue will be available at an
invite to be circulated at the meeting, which you'll need to bring to be
admitted.

Look forward to seeing you all tonight and tomorrow !

Keith
