I've used these⦠http://www.networkinstruments.com/products/ntaps/index.php?tab=optical They appear to do what they say on the tin, mix and match modular, 3 modules to a 1U shelf, so a maximum of 9 taps per 1U There are higher density ones available in the market, but the higher the density the tighter your rats nest ;-) Depends how expensive/scare rackspace is for you
The key thing to watch out for is whether the overall fibre run can cope with the attenuation. So read the spec sheets, get whatever power related diagnostics you can out of the hardware at both ends. Then do the maths (twice). Apologies if I'm teaching my grandmother to suck eggs :-) HTH Dariush On 11 Feb 2013, at 10:55, Ronan Mullally wrote: > Does anybody have any recommendations (or warnings) on passive fibre taps? > I'm looking for something that will do 50-100 single mode pairs with a > 70/30 split without turning into too much of a patching rat's nest. > > > -Ronan >
