Hi All,

I am working through some BT migrations and need some details
calrifying but it's hard to find the correct information;

Typically entire realms are migrated betwen CPs but I am working on a
case whereby indiviudal lines are being taken over in batches. Some
initial testing on a spare WBC PSTN line purchased for BT Business
ADSL service has shown that one can't use any WBC CPs PPP details on
and WBC line - a BT Business line for example will only auth using BT
Business PPP details, it won't auth using another set of CP
credentials (i.e the auth request isn't recieved by the other CP who
owns the realm so presumably auths coming in on a line are sent to the
associated CP which on this test line is presumably be BT Business).

The path I would like to explore is that as lines only auth to one CP
at any one time until the point when BT migrate the line between CPs,
then CPEs can be reconfigured with PPP details for the new CP. Once
the migration occurs the PPP session should be bounced and the CPE
will re-auth to the new CP. Since CPEs can be updated remotely CP1 can
update CPEs with PPP details for CP2 and when BT migrate lines the
CPEs automatically appear on CP2's hostlinks and thus RADIUS platform
et al.

The problem here is that there is a "danger" period where the PPP
details are changed but the BT line migration hasn't completed yet, if
the line bounces or retrains during this time it will come back up
with PPP details for CP2 which wont work becasue the line still
belongs to CP1 so the CPE now becomes a remote paper weight.

Has anyone had to tacle this sort of scenario before? If so, did you
find an improvement to this status quo?

Do BT offer a solution that helps with such an interirm scenario that
anyone has encountered? Anyone from BT want to chim in?

Cheers,
James.
