Dear colleagues

Here’s a few final pieces of information on UKNOF31, taking place on Monday
next week (20 April, 9.30am until 5.30pm) in the Charter Suite at Manchester
Central Convention Centre, Petersfield, Manchester, M2 3GX

UKNOF are back in Manchester, with an agenda fortified with technical and
operational goodness. Those attending in person will also likely fulfil their 5
a day pledge!

The meeting agenda includes BT’s G.Fast and ultra fast broadband (100s of Mb/s
over copper), whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Mythic Beasts will be
talking about building open source platforms to
support high profile sites on a shoestring. Andrews & Arnold will be relaying
their BT and TalkTalk L2TP experiences, whilst Nominum head-up a range of DNS
presentations with an explanation of the evolving
threat of DNS based DDoS. On the research side, there will be a talk on the
factors affecting usage and take-up of a nation-wide TVstreaming service.

With other presentations, a PGP-Keysigning session during lunch, the
opportunity to pick up your RIPE Atlas probe, long breaks for networking with
industry colleagues and a group photo shoot, this is going to be one
jam packed day.

The registration desk opens at 9.30am with tea, coffee and some cheese &
mushroom and cheese & ham croissants. The main session starts at 10am and we
start wrapping up around 5.30pm..

are interested in attending, we still have room for more attendees on a paying
basis (£126.65 inc VAT and Eventbrite fee), in advance or at the door via:

[[ FIRST TIME ATTENDEES ]]

We are pleased to see a number of first time attendees attend each subsequent
UKNOF meeting. UKNOF31 is no different with 30% first time attendees registered
to attend. We understand how daunting it can be to attend a meeting for the
first time, especially if you are new to the industry. As such, Debbie Casey,
from our Meeting Committee, will be manning the ‘First Time Attendee’ section
of the registration desk and will be on hand to welcome and provide any
guidance required. In addition, First Time Attendees may approach any of the
UKNOF crew regarding any questions they may have.

UKNOF meetings are relaxed and fairly informal, and we are certain that those
who have attended UKNOF in the past will assist the first time attendees with
settling in.

[[ UKNOF CREW ]]

The UKNOF crew consists of those who are involved with organising the main
aspects of the meeting - The Programme Committee and The Meeting Committee. You
will be able to recognise the crew by the red lanyards they will be sporting
during the day.

[[ GROUP PHOTO ]]

We are planning on taking a UKNOF31 group photo during the final 30 minutes of
the lunch break. This will be outside the Charter Foyer entrance. We are aware
of many photography enthusiasts in the industry, and if you are able to assist
with taking the group photo with your own camera equipment, please let us know
by emailing [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>

[[ RESPECT AT UKNOF ]]

A reminder of our Respect Policy, available at:

evening at 7.30pm. To give her an idea of how many people to reserve a table
for, please let her know by 11am on Friday 17 April (tomorrow) if you would
