I think its worth understanding how your operating system from your vendor uses
the following:

Multicore CPU
Multi Threaded
64bit clean.

(and good luck with RSVP!)

Neil

Thanks Cat,

I went with the MX5 because of the upgrade path available – don’t quite have
the budget to go any higher yet ☺

I suspect that JTAC will just tell us to upgrade, which I was planning on doing
anyway as we have a bug in netflow export of AS numbers.

Subject: Re: [uknof] Juniper MX5 BGP and LDP Issue

Been using a few MX80's for MPLS (BGP + RSVP though) for a few years now and
yes, rock solid with full tables. Can top your memory usage, but not had any
issues with them. Replacing some of them with MX104s because of the memory
usage on the MX80s so I can sleep better at night! :)

Hi Guys,

Anyone had any big issues with Juniper MX5s?

One of mine just threw a load of BGP peers and some LDP at the same time – it’s
been rock solid for a few years. We have raised it with JTAC but just wanted to
see if anyone else had experienced a similar problem?

It is carrying full tables and is running at 80% memory so maybe that is the
problem.

And if any of you peer with us on LINX – sorry for the blip!

Best regards, Paul
