Hello UKNOF,

For those of you in & around Manchester and *not* attending UKNOF next
week, NetMcr will be running on the 2nd Thursday as normal:

  When: Thursday 8th September, 2016
Where: 57 Thomas Street, Manchester (the bar upstairs)
Time: 19:00 - ~21:30 (the venue stays open until midnight)
  Cost: Nil

We're aiming to provide a regular, friendly environment, not just for
experienced professionals but also those keen to learn more about our
industry, or those looking to simply bolster the social circles around
the profession.

Everyone is invited: please do make a point of forwarding this
invitation on to any colleagues or friends that you might feel would be
interest. Some ideas of those we're hoping to try harder to reach:

 - Junior Support/NOC techs
 - Students or Researchers studying Networking
 - Developers/Sysadmins with a Network interest

... Particularly those that might not be able to take time out of work
to visit larger events; we're hoping to provide a social for everyone.

=== Agenda

NetMcr starts with a few short presentations (~10 mins each) with the
intention being to break the ice and stimulate some conversation. There
will be beer/food breaks in the middle, followed by plenty of time
thereafter to network with your fellow networkers.

At the minute we've no confirmed presentations, which is annoying as
there's two confirmed for October. :)

Please get in touch if you have something that you'd like to present!

The topics permissible are broad, so don't be shy, but do keep in mind
that you could be speaking to quite a wide audience in terms of
technical understanding. And ideally a topic that we can fit into 10-15
minutes. :)

Following on from feedback, we now have a full write-up of each meeting,
with slides from the presentations (if permissible) available
via our website: http://www.netmcr.uk.

=== Important notes for attendees

1. Please do try to turn up promptly as we'll be hoping to start the
talks at the *beginning* of the evening, ca. 19:30.

2. The venue owners are happy for us to use their space gratis, with the
assumption that there will be some spend behind the bar. Out of respect
to our generous hosts, please do not bring your own food or drink*.

 * The menu has had an overhaul recently; it's worth eating there!

3. Whilst we're clearly provisioning to make this a social event with
alcohol, please do not feel as if you are expected to drink - there will
be a range of non-alcoholic beverages available at the bar.

4. If you'll be under 18 at the time of attending, please speak to me
before arrival. I hope attendance won't be an issue, sans alcohol, but
we will need to double-check this with the bar's manager before you attend.

5. Everyone attending will be there to socialise and talk Networking, so
please be respectful and tolerant regardless of anyone's level of
knowledge, gender, race, religion, football team, or their current
employer.

Anyone that feels they have been treated without the due respect should
please contact myself or Thom privately.

That's it. Feedback is of course very welcome - both before & after the
event. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. :)

Tom & Thom.
