Hello, tl;dr: NetMcr, TONIGHT, 9th Feb. Good social, with some clueful talks.
We're also now running our own mailing list, for announcements. Future event announcements will be made from that list *only*, so please do sign up to it if you are interested in attending NetMcr: https://www.netmcr.uk, form on the right-hand sidebar. (It'll be low-traffic, I promise. :)) Read on for the full details on tonight's event: When: Thursday 9th February 2017 Where: 57 Thomas Street, Manchester (the room upstairs) Time: 19:00 sharp, until ~22:00 (bar open until midnight!) Cost: Nil We're aiming to provide a regular, friendly environment, not just for experienced professionals but for any individual keen to learn more about the Networking industry, or those looking to simply bolster their social circles around the profession. Everyone is invited: please do make a point of forwarding this invitation on to any colleagues or friends that you might feel would be interest. *Particularly* those individuals that may not be able to take time out from work to visit larger events. Some ideas of individuals that we're trying extra hard to include: * Junior Support/NOC personnel * Students or Researchers studying Networking * Developers/Sysadmins with a Network interest * Engineers in more "Enterprise Network" roles === Agenda For NetMcr we aim to include a few short (10-15min) presentations to stimulate conversation, and to allow for a little clue distribution. Confirmed presentations this month are: IGP Choices: which one do you use? - James Blessing Office IPv6 failover with multiple uplinks - Tim Bray We maintain a full write-up of each meeting on the website: https://www.netmcr.uk === Contact To get in touch with us directly, please use either/or: Twitter: @net_mcr Email: [email protected] Please use the hashtag #NetMcr if you're tweeting about the events. === Important Notes 0. Everyone is welcome. We publish our formal Respect Policy, here: https://www.netmcr.uk/respect-policy 1. Please do try to turn up promptly as we'll be hoping to start the talks at the *beginning* of the evening, ca. 19:30. 2. The venue owners are happy for us to use their space gratis, with the assumption that there will be some spend. Out of respect to our generous hosts, please do not bring your own food or drink*. * The cheese menu is almost as good as the beer menu. 3. Whilst we're clearly provisioning this as a social event with alcohol, please do not feel as if you are expected to drink. There is a range of non-alcoholic beverages available at the bar, also. 4. If you'll be under 18 at the time of attending, please let us know before arrival. I hope attendance won't be an issue, sans alcohol, but we will need to check this with the bar's manager before you attend. We hope to see you there! Tom & Thom.
