Hi David, We have tested a good number of monitoring platforms over the years for our own data centre facility and it has always been difficult to find a single pane of glass that covers environmental, network, power and then other associated DC hardware (CRACs, Servers etc).
We use APC hardware extensively, around 280 devices, and settled on Observium which out of the box supports 95%+ of units within our sites for both monitoring and alerting; maybe take a look at their solution here: http://www.observium.org/ Happy to have a more in-depth chat off list if that would be of use.
