we also found out we could play MUD at Essex U on their Dec10, after
hours. Even a text based game was just about bearable using the
1200b/s serial link at Leed's U Boddington Hall library into the
cambridge ring at the university and back out to Essex.

At first Essex allowed you to play MUD as a guest from early evening
onwards but too many people and they changed the hours to be something
like 11pm onwards. I had to stop playing in weekdays because I became
too tired to function!
