Dear colleagues

The second virtualUKNOF took place yesterday, Monday 20th July.

We would like to thank you and everyone - participants, speakers, patrons,
partners, the UKNOF crew - who helped make it a great success. A smaller UKNOF
crew (Chris, Keith and me, Denesh) were joined by Ian Chilton and Richard
Irving - both from LONAP - and Brandon Butterworth from Bogons, who helped with
the rehearsals and running of the show in the background. Rob Lister (LONAP)
joined us to run the quiz.

We are grateful for LONAP's annual Patronage financial support of UKNOF and as
co-host of this meeting. Richard Irving (MD, LONAP) shares a few thoughts:

"LONAP have been supporters of UKNOF for a number of years as we believe that
open, community meetings are the best way to share and build knowledge in our
industry. I’d like to thank the UKNOF Program Committee who do excellent work
in finding such interesting content for us three times a year, it is no easy
task, and also to the UKNOF crew who run the events so professionally."

[HOW ]

Some of the operations on the day were slightly different to our first
virtualUKNOF. We had learned and thus implemented. We have learned more from
this one and will implement at the next one on 7th September.

Brandon (Bogons) and I were the Producers (webinar hosts & admins), Keith and
Chris were the Presenters (meeting Chairs), Richard and Ian were the session
monitors, (Richard on Timekeeping and Ian on Q&A). Chris & I jointly managed
the social media, and Chris also kept an eye on the UKNOF channel on our chat
server.

Doing rehearsals worked very well last time, and we continued with these. We
normally have a meeting planning and checklist document. This time around we
also had a much more detailed run of show for the meeting itself (all crew and
speakers had access to this) which ran from 15 minutes before the crew and
speakers joined the green room until the end of the quiz.

We ran our meeting backchannel on our Mattermost chat server, as we had done
for the previous meeting. The change this time was for the audience where we
locked down the Zoom side chat so it was only for announcements, and we asked
delegates to join a public channel on our chat server for the "side chat". It
did get quite busy in there and we currently have 188 people subscribed to it
directly and many more accessing it through the temporary IRC bridge in place.

This continues to be a new experience for us as we constantly learn better (and
newer) ways of doing things - through running these things and by observing
other online conferences...
