Dear All,

Not sure that mIRC is used much these days, but I have a client's customer who
shares files with people using mIRC client/server and the DCC protocol.
It appears that DCC only uses a single TCP connection and that mIRC is not
really designed for sending large file transfers, but this customer claims that
the speed of his DCC has dropped hugely since moving to my client's internet
service.

He is on a 1Gbps service and can speed test to well over 700Mbps symmetrical so
that is fine, but he is claiming the internet service is not fit for purpose
due to the DCC speeds. At one point the DCC speeds did increase quite
dramatically after I reduced the CPU load on one of the core routers, but
speeds have quickly gone back down to very low, but no change in resource or
routing.

I know there could be many other factors at play, but it is suspect that DCC is
apparently fine on other provider networks, so does anyone have any experience
of similar issues when using Mikrotik CCR routers? Something is nagging me!

Best regards,

Paul Bone
