Hi,

your problems seems to be the same problem that I described recently. At that
time I thought the problem exists only for Linux clients, but in fact
the situation is much more common and very hard to track down. From
my experience the problem sometimes apppears frequently , and
sometimes it is very difficult to force the same application to hang with no
changes whatsoever to the application.

For example our application , which needs to load files from the client, will
hang from time to time on RedHat EL 4, but seems to run fine on Windows XP and
RedHat 9.0, always using Java 1.5

On the other hand the ULC own demo application called ulcset, once debugged
as described in my previous posting, has the following characterics when
deployed in tomcat: hangs on Windows XP, runs fine on RedHat 9.0 and RedHat
EL 4, so just the opposite as our own application.

It may need a lot of attempts to load a file before the problem appears on
windows, but it happens eventually.

All this very much hints to a thread synchronization issue. ULC Developers:
please investigate (!!!), e.g. by carefully testing the filedialog tab part
of your ulcset demo application. We are severely suffering from this problem.

   Stephan
