We are using also the Oracle Application Server, with success and without and problems. But we are using 10gR3.
On our site many problems (like ours) disappears immediately, as we stared to use version 10gR3.
-> upgrade to version 10gR3 and try again, if this is not solving the problem, the you have a coding/deployment problem.
-> did you try to run on tomcat ? If it does, the it will run as well on 10gR3 but not necessary on 10gR2
In our opinion, the App Server 10gR2 is not very stable and causes many problem with the J2EE OC4J container.
10gR2 uses JDK/JRE 1.3
10gR3 uses JDK/JRE 1.4
