Transcribed by Teena from the 11 Apr. 1785 edition of Saunders Newsletter

The assizes for the county of Donegal ended at Lifford on Thurs. when
the following were left under the different rules of the court viz.

Ann MURRAY for stealing yarn and butter out of the house of Eliza
EDWARDS, to be burnt in the hand and confined one month.

John DOUGHERTY to be transported for sheep-stealing.

Edward M'GERVEY to be burnt in the hand and confined 1 month for
robbing the church of Carrigans of its surplice and gown.

Jane DUFFEY otherwise BRISLAND to be burnt in the hand and confined 2
months for felony to the value of 1s. 1d.

Rowlance M'SWINE to be confined 2 months and to be whipped twice, from
the jail to the gallows, for rioting in the jail.

Joseph TAGGERT to be twice pilloried for passing base coin, knowing
the same to be such and confined 6 months.

The above with 30 others were tried and acquitted for different offenses.

John MOORE and William STEWART otherwise LEE, inhabitants of Ballyauly
or that neighbourhood, county Tyrone, supposed to have committed many
atrocious offenses upon the public, are now in Lifford jail.
