Jan. 10th at the Deanery House, Clogher, Lieutenant Thomas F. MAUDE
Esq. 15th Hussars, after a brief attack of gastric fever, in his 28th
year. His unexpected demise has plunged his parents and family in the
deepest sorrow. By his death, Lord Viscount HAWARDIN, to whom he was
cousin german, the noble family of DUNALLY, on the maternal side, the
Hon. and Rev. John C. MAUDE and family, Charter hill, Enniskillen &c.,
are placed in the deepest grief and mourning, by the gallant
Lieutenants decease. He was justly beloved by all who had the pleasure
of his acquaintance; in the military circle he was duly appreciated;
to all civilians, and those especially of Clogher, we might say, he
was almost idolized; by his death the poor of Clogher have lost a
steady, warmhearted friend; the independent farmer, an agreeable
companion; the elite of gentry, a polished friend and acquaintance; in
a word, he was the elegant gentleman; the unassuming companion, the
tender friend and one who was always accessible and ready to
participate in the woes or distress of the oppressed. He was intered
on the 13th inst., in Newtown Saville, parish of Clogher, the large
concourse of carriages and gentry, together with all the respectable
inhabitants of Tyrone, Fermanagh and Co. Monaghan, fully demonstrated
the above remarks. The chief mourners were his hon. and venerable
parent, Hon. Dean MAUDE, John C. MAUDE, and Rev. Henry TOTTENHAM
