Transcribed by Teena from the Belfast Commercial Chronicle 1 Dec. 1827 Honesty It is worthy of being recorded, as an example to others, that Wm. M’MENEMY who keeps a public-house in Bishop street, found, on Thursday evening last, a parcel, containing 4 or £500 in bank notes, which a gentleman had dropped near Ship quay gate, in alighting from the Sligo coach. It is easy to conceive what the gentleman’s feelings were on missing the property; his mind was soon eased by having it restored to him, as the finder did not rest till he sought him out. So convinced was M’MENEMY that he only did his duty, that he could not be prevailed on to receive any reward; the generous gentleman, however, forced his little son accept a note for £5.
