Hello Friends With the season of Christmas just around the corner, I thought I would ask if your family has holiday traditions?
If so, you may not even know how they started, as they have always been a part of how your family celebrates. Your family’s holiday traditions are one of the most precious parts of the season and you might even consider them part of your personal heritage. How would it be if we share some of these traditions? Are there events that you have actively participated in? Certain seasonal meals that you serve? Recipes that are used? Ornaments that are made? etc. Have you had to substitute or alter a tradition for 'household friendliness'? An example for me is that I no longer use tinsel for the safety of my pets. Instead, I tie small red bows on the tips of the some of the tree branches. This past Halloween, I was surprised to learn that the Irish had carved turnips instead of pumpkins long ago! I imagine that took a bit of strength to complete! Let's share some of our traditions and not only have fun while doing so, but maybe learn and incorporate a few in our own families as well! (We may not even know that they are Irish traditions!) When sharing any traditions you have, please also introduce your ancestors, as it has been some time since we had a roll call. If you'd rather not share Christmas traditions, please participate with the roll call, as we have had new people join us, and connections could be made. I understand that there may be Christmas traditions which stem from a particular faith of our ancestor.
