I wonder how far back records go? I am wondering if anyone does have a Bracegirdle tucked away in their family in the mid 1700's or thereabouts.
Reverend George Bracegirdle came to Ireland about 1754 to take over the parish of Donagheady. Comments on the PRONI website says he had a large family with him (they may not have all arrived together). I am fairly certain that he and wife Hannah plus children actually lived in Strabane and may have purchased a house there. George died in 1768, and Hannah in 1781, but so far I have been unable to find any records of the children. Did they all die there, or did they marry, or move away? Mention is made in the PRONI website of a son, he is called Patrick although I have my doubts about this name. I am sure they came over with several girls and "Partrick" died around 1744 in Virginia. Whether George and Hannah had more children in Ireland is not recorded that I can see, and apart from mention of his death in 1768 there are no records available which show where he and Hannah are buried. Both had left wills but of course these were gone in 1922. Does anyone have a Bracegirdle female in their tree in this period? Burial records seem to be completely lacking. I theorise that both may have been buried in Strabane or nearby, rather than Donagheady Any suggestions welcomed.
