Monday 15 April 1833 Suicide Co. Cavan On Thursday week, a melancholy case of suicide happened near the town of Cavan, Edward KEMP of Tyrorkin, a very respectable farmer in good circumstances, was found hanging in his own cow-house by the servant boy and although the horrid deed appeared to have been recently committed, he was quite dead when discovered. It seems that he arose at an early hour and deliberately suspended himself by the cow’s halter to one of the rafters. No particular cause can be assigned for this circumstance, the unfortunate man was believed to enjoy his usual health and spirits and his affairs had not suffered any unfavourable change up to the evening previous to his death.
Coroner's Inquest (of a Belfast man) On Monday an inquest was held before Henry HARDY Esq. at the Bridewell of this city, (Cork city) on view of the body of Robert HUNTER soldier belonging to the 77th regiment. It appeared that the deceased, a native of Belfast and said to have belonged to a respectable family, had been out after hours with his comrade DUNN, about a month since; that they were attacked at Patrick’s bridge by a set of fellows; that DUNN escaped after getting a severe beating, to the barracks; but that HUNTER ran towards the city, followed by his assailants; since when, until Monday morning, when his body was found in the South Channel, no tidings had been had of him. They were both tipsy and under the circumstances, the jury returned a verdict of "Found drowned.” Transcribed by Teena from the Belfast Commercial Chronicle
