A couple earlier news reports for you.

16 Jul. 1724

Letters from Dublin, June 29th advise, that the Tuesday before,
Alexander PIERCY, post master of Omagh, in the County of Tyrone, was
tryed at the King's bench bar, for having intercepted in his office, a
letter, and thereout taken a bill, of which offence, he was upon full
and plain proof, convicted and sentenced to be whipped and also
imprisoned for 12 months; accordingly he was that day whipt from
Newgate to the lower end of the folly near Lazer's Hill, and back to
Newgate again.

24 Nov. 1753

Ireland hath granted the following sums, viz. for making a Waggon Way
and carrying on a coal work at Dromglass, Co Tyrone; 500£ to Joseph
SEXTON.

LITTLE of Legacurry Co. Tyrone.
