The opposite solution is the Technical Tap.  Either drop the disk or hit it
with a mallet.  Seriously.

You have to figure out the direction to hit it from so that you don't get a
head crash.  I think that on the long thin side is best, but figure it out
for yourself so that your data loss is not my fault.  :-)

You'll want to do this when it is trying to spin up, as this is a solution
for stiction, when the fine oil on the platters is actually gluing the heads
to the disk.  This is not a solution for bad sectors at all.

In fact, I'm not sure that freezing is a solution for bad sectors.
