All,

I'm new to the um-Linux list and this is my first post. A friend of mine recommended this list after I told him about a problem I am having. My power supply, main hard drive and backup hard drive just went down last Friday after a power surge. The main hard drive wont turn on and the backup supply won't mount, I can see the partitions but no matter what I do I can't get it to mount. Also it's making a lot of clicking noises. I've tried fsck but it returns an error that includes a bad super block as a possibility.

Anyway, I am looking into sending the main hard drive, the one that doesn't power on, to a data recovery center. I was hoping someone on this list could give me some advice on which particular center I should send my disk to. None of my friends have had to do this before and I was hoping to get some first hand recommendations before I send my disk off to some company that promises a lot but and delivers nothing. Have any of you sent a Hard drive to a data recovery center before? Were they actually able to recover your data? How much did it cost you? Would you recommend them to me?

Thanks in advance for the help,

-Yohance
