It was decided at the last meeting that we should move the next meeting
to December first (instead of Dec. 8th) so as not to conflict with the
EOS (end of semester) party.
The topic for this meeting will be *nix tips and tricks. Everyone
has their own cool little things they use and probably neglect at this
point- well not everyone knows about them! For instance, over the
summer a friend told me about the "watch" program. This is a
great little program that I'll be quickly presenting to kick things
off. This is the sort of stuff I'm looking for.
In the interest of records, we'll be (hopefully) recording the
presentations using vnc2swf which will be set-up on my notebook, thus
everyone will be using my notebook to present. Plus, we save time
not switching in-between notebooks this way. So, if you need a
special program installed or any special files, email me or
[EMAIL PROTECTED].
Hopefully this will be a very interesting meeting, and I'm looking for
a big turnout... The more people we have presenting, the more
interesting it will be, so please come with cool stuff to show us...
And keep in mind that I'm easily amused (ohh, look at the kitty...) so
probably half the stuff y'all use will keep a lot of us
entertained/interested. (But please, no flame wars- emacs/vi/kate/nano
are not cool little utilities, but cool little tricks inside of them
might be).
