Summer Student Internship at the National Cancer Institute – Frederick /

The Microscopy and Image Analysis Laboratory at the National Cancer Institute 
– Frederick expects to have an opening this summer (2006) for a graduate 
student to work on microscope image analysis on MATLAB, JAVA and C/C++ 
platforms.  The primary project is technical refinement and testing of a 
computer program for segmenting (delineating) whole cells and nuclei in 3D 
confocal microscope images.  Specifically, the project may include: enhancing 
the graphical user interface, developing new, multi-scale segmentation 
approaches and addition of object measurement tools.  In addition, there may be 
opportunities to develop a variety of other image analysis and measurement

Research Assistant Position in the Microscopy and Image Analysis Laboratory at 
the National Cancer Institute – Frederick / SAIC – Frederick

The Microscopy and Image Analysis Laboratory at the National Cancer Institute 
– Frederick expects to have an opening from mid-summer (2006) for a full-time 
research assistant in the multi-user Confocal Microscopy Laboratory to operate 
confocal microscopes and image analysis software (50%) and to participate in 
the development of quantitative image analysis software (50%).  Minimum 
qualifications are a B.S./M.S.(preferred) in the Physical or Computation 
Sciences plus at least two years of experience in a research environment.  For
